6.2k mage that stopped at 11/12H 25s. Which is about the same as anyone that doesn't have a shadowmourne in our groups.

Thanks, let me know what you're sitting at. I'm only around 5200 so I guess that makes me feel a bit better. Also, what's the name/realm?

Ronic/Kalecgos

He is in his PvP gear right now and in Prot spec.

I think he is at 5968 GS (Ret) and I still have no LK kill in 10 or 25m. My wife is about the same GS on her Paladin (Holy).

My Paladin and Shaman are something close to 6k... not 100% sure since Alleria uses wow-heroes... where I'm around 3250.

that would do it. ;)

login screen: 100fps
char select screen: 275fps!!!!
in-game: 30-90fps

so there's no fix?

Now that we've got some merit in looking into this, try running a system monitoring application like SpeedFan and let's see how high the temps go.

My Hunter is over 6000 not sure exactly how much over. Our guild is still trying to complete LK 10 man normal, but we only raid once a week, and we really didn’t get serious in raiding ICC until four or five months ago.

Our Guild Name “Old WoW Gamers” isn’t a reference to us having played WoW a long time, though many of us have been in since Vanilla. The name is in reference to our age more than anything else I’m 51 and not even close to the oldest in our group.

We have cleared Rot face and Fester gut, we ALMOST got the Professor, We got the Blood Princes down, and got the Blood queen to 5%, both of the Blood Wing encounters last week were the first time we had ever run them. If you ask me I think the prices were a tougher fight but we just kept getting unlucky in timeline on the blood queen and the bites.

We have also gotten close on dream walker but never got her down.

I expect us to finish Dreamwalker, Blood Queen, and the Professor on our next raid… then there is only one thing standing between us and the LK

Nope we are not the best guild in the world but we are tenacious and there are a lot worse out there.

Okay, I took a peek at the way my PC runs and you must not have "Max Foreground FPS" and "Max Background FPS" enabled.

Log into the game and go into any character. Go to the game menu and select Video. In the Video options menu, select Advanced and make sure the checkbox beside "Max Foreground FPS" and "Max Background FPS" are both checked. There should be a slider there for you to adjust. The unfortunate thing is that you have no idea what value you're actually at... just that the bottom is 0 and the top is 100.

Mine are set at Foreground = 100, Background ~= 30. Given those settings, my framerate at the main menu and character select screen barely fluctuated from 100 ( the highest was maybe 108 ).

my char menu FPS hit 250 or so when i looked at it

why is this an issue?

This is why...

video card issues - anytime I'm at the user/password screen, the fan runs ridiculously loud and fast. Same thing with the character select screen. If I leave it on these screens for over a minute, the entire PC shuts down. If I login and begin playing, the fan slows a bit, but still louder than web browsing, and I can play just fine for hours.

ATI 4850... any ideas? It's been like this since I can remember, through many ATI drivers over the many months.

They had this problem with SC2 where some graphics cards (from both brands) would overheat because of uncapped framerates on menus (which don't take much "effort" to render).

EDIT:

Ok so my haste percentage is 14.33% (470) and my CD on CS is 3.94s.

Sounds correct, because 4.5 / (1 + .1433) = 3.9359.

So... to get 3s, you need... 3.0 = 4.5 / ( 1 + x) -> 3.0 + 3x = 4.5 -> 3x = 1.5 -> x = .5

So you need 50% Haste and 1% Haste = 32.79 Haste Rating (I believe Paladins and Shamans were put back to the normal rate), you'd need 1639.5 Haste Rating without any buffs. I don't think there are any Haste buffs anymore though... because Windfury was changed to 10% Melee/Ranged Attack Speed. But there is a talent (Judgements of the Pure) that will grant 9% haste. So it's now... x * 1.09 = 1.5 -> x ~= 1.38. So you need 38% Haste, which is... 1246.02.

EDIT 2:

Using the exact value rather than 38% Haste means you need 1234 Haste.

Also wanted to mention in my Ret gear I have 977 haste (29.80%) with a CS at 3.47s.

The rotation right now for Ret is kind of messed up due to not being able to achieve the 3 sec. CS due to losing too much other stats.
You basically want to CS -> filler -> wait -> CS. At 3HP you can cast Zealotry and then it is CS -> Templar's Verdict -> CS repeat until over until Zealotry is done. If you have a proc that keeps your 3HP then you CS -> TV -> TV. Also with Wings you want to Hammer of Wrath between CS unless you have 3HP (then use TV).

It is much better in my opinion then the Auto hot key methods of most of T10, but at the same time I cannot stand the HP system. I mainly play as a healer on my paladin and getting combo points for a free heal that is otherwise unless just makes me unlikely to continue after Cataclysm.

I remember I was going for 1400 or so haste with my lock before sanctuary came out so with the trinket from there I would have had 1500 something in affliction with millstone.

The only time I use zealotry is with lust. I don't mind holy power all that much but still find everything to be way too rng based.

This fixed it, thanks. I don't suppose these "max" options were there before were they? I don't remember seeing them pre-patch.

I don't think they were, but I've never had a problem with my PC acting up, and there were times when I'd leave it at the character select screen rather than logged in (usually on PVP servers).

Although, I think WoW always had some sort of limiting factor built into it. Whenever I'd leave my WoW window (I play in windowed mode), it'd always drop to 30 FPS and go back to normal when the window regained focus.

Meh, I am the biggest flip-flopper ever. I don't think I'm going to buy Cata. I didn't have any fun at all on the beta at all, and it (once again) dawned on me how little fun it is to play this game without your friends. It's definitely time to move on.

Wish I didn't spent the cash to xfer my Warrior already, but oh well.

i'm not sure who all plays the AH here, but i sure wish i had made more than 10 of each glyph for the most recent patch. i will post about once or twice every day or two as i don't play that much right now with my schedule the way it is. posting so few times has still netted me like 60k gold in the past couple of weeks. imagine if i was actually buying and reposting, crafting to fulfill the demand, and posting more than once every two days!! i love nothing more than selling glyphs for 1000% or more of their worth, lol. with the recent change to crafting mats for glyphs, there is still huge profit available from buying herbs, milling and crafting glyphs from scratch regardless of it requiring 3 inks per glyph. how much gold have you guys made since the patch?

ive lost gold since the patch,

but then again i never play the AH, don't craft anything to sell on it or in trade chat (mostly because i have over 500 people ignored now and trade chat hardly moves)
