i dumped all my points on heirlooms in preparation for my troll druid. i sure wish i had purchased the items prepatch.

well not my tailoring, but there is an issue with profession windows not showing recipes. i'm sure it's on their list of stuff to fix.

I installed fraps but have no idea how to get it to show FPS. It is in my systray but there's no FPS display anywhere. I load up WoW and still no FPS anywhere. What do I do? Do I have to record and playback or something?

just install titanpanel... its an addon most everyone should be using anyways... and one of the options is "performance" .. which shows FPS & Ping

can't since i just want to know FPS in the login & char select screen where my vid card goes nuts. I do have titan panel already though.

I'll give CTRL R a try.

Anyone that plays a ret pally that can give me some assistance? I haven't been able to play too much but was able to hop on over the weekend and wow was I overwhelmed 🙁

I tried reforging/gemming what I had last night but I'm just frustrated. I know I need to reforge for hit/exp first and then haste after. I don't know how people are able to get to a 3 sec CS, I am nowhere near it. I even tried gemming for it (which I will be getting rid of later this afternoon).

I know I'm missing enchants (which I can thank Blizz for) and will get those worked out later as well. Can anyone take a look and give me their opinion as to what I should do?
Bubblebath on Stormrage

Also, it appears that I grabbed the wrong Ashen ring so I'll pick up the correct one as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

wait and save money,

it was prob in the other wow thread before we had to make this new one but i went from a E8400 @ 4GHz w/ 4 gigs of ram and a GTX 285 to a I7 920 @ 4GHz with 6 gigs of ram and the same GTX 285 and my frame rates literally doubled across the board

This is very interesting to hear. I would've thought the E8400 OC'd so high would've been plenty of horsepower to keep WoW humming along smoothly. My E8500 @ 3.16 (with a Radeon 4890) only seems to slow down when Dal is busy--other than that everything seems great.

So is a crowded Dal running smooth for you now?

I get slowdown in Dal with an i7 920 @ stock, with a 5850. Though, that's with all ultra settings. I haven't done much tweaking though.

sort of, it runs smooth but its normally 30-45 FPS

crowded Org runs faster, normally over 60

im assuming it has to do with the rendering distance, in Dal you can see clear across northrend, in org you are limited by geography. Same reason my frame rates tanked on deathbringer, because it was outside and you could see too much. might be GFX card limitation but the 285 is still pretty powerful, however i do plan on replacing it soon i want something quieter

the biggest difference was going from 2-4 cores. wow will peg all 4 not HT cores on a i7, for me running around dal ill see cores spike to 70% or so but never 100%. on the C2D both would be running 75%+ most of the time

non crowded city non raid frame rates are always 100+ and will go over 200 in some areas

Doesn't it take nearly 1300 haste to hit the 3s CD on CS? 😱

@chaco: i have a decent ret set but since it was always an offspec, i don't have many best in slot pieces. i have not really regemmed or reforged that set either as i'm usually prot. i have around a 3.21 crusader strike atm but that's when i'm solo. i'm sure i could get it to the 3 second mark if did some regemming or reforging but honestly i am not too worried about it. i haven't raided as ret nor will i do so since i feel i contribute much more as raiding prot atm. (assuming i even raid anymore before the expansion).

short version: i contributed nothing with this post 😛

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Although there is a formula one can use to calculate what is needed provided you know what latency you're dealing with as the higher the latency the less haste you will need. I don't have time to raid so I'm probably just wasting my time and pissing away gold on things that don't even matter right now.

I'll check my Ret paladin's haste tonight when I get home. He is pushing 5900+ GS but I don't think he is at a 3 sec. CD for CS.

Running on E8400 oc'd to 3.6, 4gigs of ram, and a geforce 260. My rates in Dalaran were terrible (less than 30fps) at high settings. The problem turned out to be the addons throwing errors, despite having the latest updates.. I removed the WTF folder to purge everything and re-downloaded my addons. Now everything is back to 60fps at max settings

Ya, this is exactly how mine runs but I have an 8800GTS 512mb. I just wonder what improvements I would see if I switched over to an i7 setup.

4.03 is up on the PTR. This should be the he's about to break loose and things start going funky with 4.03a released at launch to official launch the shattering; although official details of the differences will be detailed by blizz next week so people know what to expect.

Thanks, let me know what you're sitting at. I'm only around 5200 so I guess that makes me feel a bit better. Also, what's the name/realm?

who here has/had the highest gearscore? Show it off. I was still a tad sub-6k when we downed LK normal... then everyone stopped raiding.

My Warlock (Kukudhi, The Scryers) is 6130~something
My Warrior (Adillysse), and my Deathknight (Therise) are both a bit over 6K.

Same deal here as you - We were doing H 25's, but essentially stopped all serious raiding after the patch.
