you will see some improvement going from 2-4 GB but it wont be earth shattering, OCing or getting a new more powerful CPU will be a better upgrade, i used to play on an E8400 @ 4GHz performance was decent but going to an i7 was a night and day improvement

Well I can't quite afford everything to go over to the new layout (ram, motherboard, proc) so I'll probably be sticking with the same hardware for a while.

Well, I didn't realize how good Arms PvP was now but I keep hearing it. Last night an Arms warrior schooled me twice in open world PvP while I was doing some AT dailies.

I know I'm still rusty, but dang, I didn't even put up a good fight. I am Fury right now so it's not optimal, but I figured with my "decent" PvP gear (a couple wrathful pieces and mostly relentless-- I'm up to 1000k resil now) I would at least make a good showing.

I think the first thing he did was disarm me...after that it was a blur b/c I was like "wtf just happened!". It made me realize I need alot of practice and that if I want to PvP again I should look at Arms harder.

What are your thoughts on going with incite vs. the self healing talents?

The utility of the self-healing talents out weighs the extra damage from incite, IMO. You can refer to my spec for a solid PVP build.

This. I made the move from an e8400 to an i7. Huge difference.

Maybe waiting until Sandy Bridge comes out might help you... that could lower the price on the current i-series processors to a much more agreeable level :).

I'm actually considering upgrading to Sandy Bridge when it comes out... the older Anandtech tests showed about a 12 FPS upgrade in an i5 compared to an i7 of about the same speed.

I've got a e6600 with a gtx280 and a q99something with a gtx480. After the last patch I set them both to ultra. The quadcore handled it a bit better but still goes below 20 in the city crowds while the e6600 was chunging at low single digits so I had to back the graphic settings a few.

Once I can get a decent mail order price for a top end i chip I'll be downgrading the quad to the second computer and then I should be able to push both at ultra levels without worrying about city lag.

One thing I've thought of recently, with portals gone from the nuetral hubs and no new hub in cata...what is going to happen to those achievements that require a certain class/race spec of the opposong faction. Some of them you'd have to just sit for awhile hoping for one to appear, those are going to be in "an even more bitch" status come this separation.

To get within 20 yards of a female dwarf priest and stay so through a 2 second cast...or the even better troll rogue. Does not sound pleasant if your only option, not to mention that this then dramatically limits the level range of those able to complete it.

I can't speak for Trolls. But since they're so short and look masculine, female Dwarf Priests are typically mistaken for altar boys, and therefore spend most of their time running away from the other Priests...

So yeah - Since they've had so much practice, I imagine it's quite difficult to get within Shackle range of one... <giggle>

Way back when I was on the alliance side, one of our main priest chose female dwarf (back when fear ward mattered) because of how fugly they could be.

figured this would be better here than making another thread... right now I've got a e8400 4gb ddr2 and a pair of gtx460's 1gb how much of an improvement would I see going to a Q9550? Would it be worth a few hundred dollars or should I hold out a little longer and upgrade to an i7 930?

as i recently posted, it will be noticeable but unless you can get a real deal on one may want to consider just waiting.

wait and save money,

it was prob in the other wow thread before we had to make this new one but i went from a E8400 @ 4GHz w/ 4 gigs of ram and a GTX 285 to a I7 920 @ 4GHz with 6 gigs of ram and the same GTX 285 and my frame rates literally doubled across the board

all my toons that i care about are moved to Twisting Nether now. i began on Warsong oh so many years ago and moved to Bonechewer during the free moves. been there for years and finally jumped ship to play with some rl friends on TN. so far, it's peaceful and much closer to home here in NC so my latency has dropped significantly!

You can try running FRAPS to see the framerate of your screens. I can do the same later today.

It could be a hardware problem, but at first it sounds like the SC2 problem.

I installed fraps but have no idea how to get it to show FPS. It is in my systray but there's no FPS display anywhere. I load up WoW and still no FPS anywhere. What do I do? Do I have to record and playback or something?

ugh, finally went and cleared out my justice points over the cap as someone wanted me to help with the weekly and that would just be a couple hundred more wasted. bought everything i could that would be even a mild upgrade and ended like 300 below cap...

now i'm like 180 points over hit cap and have a bunch of empty blue sockets tied to +SP that looks like i'm going to put +int/+stam into.
