I like how Bliz thought ahead on how the new quests would be affected by Unbalanced PVP Servers. Tried doing the Thrall Questline last night. There are quests (and some of the Hyjal daily quests have this too), where you have to kill mobs to "fill a meter". Well, if you die, the meter gets reset. So.. in the process of trying to kill 20 or so mobs, I would get overwhelmed by 15 or so Horde.. resetting the quest. I shouldn't have to bring a raid group with me to complete a questline, but apparently that's what I am going to have to do.

Firelands patch is total shit.

Poorly designed process/steps to get to Firelands. Awful quest with Arrya (whatever her name is). I had to leave at the Firelands portion of this terrible quest chain,... and now I have no idea how to start it up again. The quest is not in my log. I do not see Arrya anywhere.

Its like they took the same diseased minds that came up with Archealogy and allowed them to affect the core game.

They also limited your valor gain. Making the process even more painful.

I assume you are talking about the quest in the water Vashi (sp).
I had a guild mate doing the quest at the same time and they were able to complete the mission but for whatever reason i could never see the person to talk to at the end. Guild Chat/ "He's right fing there beside you....."

i ended up leaving and i hope to complete it today......it really is frustrating.

I am on a PvE server. PvP marked Horde/Alliance are everywhere. I have to be very careful what I attack.

I honestly think they have given up on coming up with good, well though out ideas.

i was scanning the blue tracker and someone made this exact point that on unbalanced servers its basically impossiable to do these quests. they simply locked the thread before people could post so it didnt turn into a shit show. but its a valid point, ive been on the receiving end of bad imbalances in the past and it makes people quit the game

also the whole points system is crap, i hated it when it came about in wrath and still hate it. actually the new system is part of the reason i think i quit.

So killing elementals to fill up a meter is the best they could come up with for the Thrall quest chain?

There's at least 3 different quests like this in the chain, and they are a monumental pain on unbalanced PVP servers. Horde is about 70/30 on mine and it's very difficult without a raid group right now.

yeah the thrall quest suck. they need to make it none-pvp. I got flagged on my rogue (must have been fan of knives). there was like 10-15 horde flagged. they didn't bother me but they did kill a warrior who tried to cheap shot a sitting horde.

it was kinda funny. i sat down to drink and 2 horde sat next to me drinking (all of us flagged) i stuck next to them since they had a tank heh

but no way would i do a PVP relm.

Didn't they institute a change (a long time ago) where AoE would not hit a flagged player of the opposing faction unless you were also flagged? I believe this also counts for things like cleaves, as people would grief you by trying to make you hit them, so they (and their merry friends) could gank you.

this account was an original game only. I had two 60s on it that I wanted to stay 60 forever. Which is the reason I dont have bc. Now that bliz gave it to us it maid my character have exp on. So i only needed 1 exp to lvl now.

I tried to get to the lvl 19 in sw to turn exp off but lvled from exploring. Now I do not wana be 61. I was 60 for a reason and wanted to stay that way. I would hope you can fix this since its 100% out of my control.

we should have an option on account management to upgrade it for free or not. Should not just force us into it. Would be nice if you could fix my two characters which I spent alot of time geting the way I wanted them and farming the gears. thank you

► Going back to your specific request of reverting your character back to 60.

Unfortunately, this was an intended change and game masters will not be able to de-level the character Saversians, my apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused. If you would like to voice your concerns regarding this sudden change, it would be best to post your feedback on our General discussion forum.

I read that thread, and from my understanding the OP got the BC trial to farm Outland instances for gear and then intentionally let it expire.

Why did he do that? Because now he can stay at 60 (1 XP away from 61 because of the BC trial restriction) but was able to PvP with his Outland gear and matched against legitimate (most likely undergeared) 60s *without* turning his XP off. If he turns XP off he would have been matched against other twinked 60s.

The '1 XP away from 61' part is what got him. When this patch hit and he got some random exploration XP, it immediately got him to 61.

I'm fine with twinks if they play fair (against other twinks) and it's possible that there's someone out there who was legitimately screwed because of this, but I don't sympathize with the OP in this particular case.

Stars (TW - Crystalpine Stinger) already working on Firelands Heroic - Shannox World First Kill
A lot of guilds killed all the bosses of the Firelands raid in normal mode already but it seems that Stars (TW - Crystalpine Stinger) decided to take it one step further.

After clearing the encounters in normal mode, the entire raid changed faction to reset their raid ID and started working on heroic encounters shortly after, that kind of thing happened in the past and it's not really surprising to see it used again to grab first kills.

As I write these lines, Stars killed Shannox in Heroic Mode. It's not really my place to judge if something is against the rules or not and I will just keep tracking heroic first kills as they happen.

before the Stars website went down they had 3 heroic bosses down, this was hours before MMO posted about it

they also added that they Xfered over geared alts and not their main raid force to get some practice on the Heroic modes. the TW servers never saw them on the PTR and the US and EU servers had months on them

It doesn't exactly bother me what they did. I'm surprised others aren't doing it.

Essentially buying extra raid chances? I'd call that the ultimate in cheese.

I doesn't bother me, because I'm not competing for "FIRST11!!one". I do think getting the gear from a clear, then buying themselves a week ahead to get there does anything but prove they're the best. The most motivated perhaps.

I gave it a try now that it's free, I don't think I'll buy it, but at least I got to see how the famous (or infamous of course depending on how you'd see it) "Wow" is. Now that is done, I'm just wondering... is the character creation phase really just limited to a few pre-defined face textures, hair styles, hair colors and a few features like types of horns? There's no sliders for anything like height (or even pre-defined heights), body mass or other character creation aspects and traits?

I know it's an old game, but you'd imagine that a developer like Blizzard would increase the character customization features of their game over a period of... oh... seven years? It's polished, anyhow, I like it and I can understand why it was popular especially considering that it was pretty much the first MMORPG of such polished work and scale when it was released, I'd guess (correct me if I'm wrong). But anyway, I must say that after getting to Level 10 on two characters that I really don't see myself playing that game on a regular basis, but I'll keep it installed, for those occasional rainy days when I really don't feel like playing any of my 100+ installed games...

Is this not the most buggiest patch in recent memory? Between the falling damage bugs, pet behavior oddness, and targeting dead mobs bug (among others), it seems pretty awful.

No. What you see is what you get.

It never bothered me. If I'm feeling the need for it, I'll just go to one of the 5-6 other F2P MMO games available now and enjoy the character creation 'mini game', and then go back to WoW to actually play the game :)

Patch 4.2 Hotfixes - July 1st / Firelands Heroic Disabled
We're now walking in the land of hotfixes land, with CMs doing a nice job compiling all the stuff Blizzard has been fixing for the past few days. Among other things ...

•Firelands Heroic difficulty has been turned off in all regions until the following week's realm maintenance.

Which somehow confirms what was posted earlier on our forums about STARS being asked nicely to get out of the instance.

Okay, before I get flamed into oblivion, I'd like to say I'm a very casual gamer. For some reason, I tend to lose interest in games very easily. Probably because I usually suck but that's not the point.

I've got maybe... two to three months of WoW playing experience in total and that was about five years ago. To put it into perspective, the highest level character I had was a lvl 37 tauren feral druid.

I'm getting curious about the game again and with tons of free time now, I might get back into it since I checked my account and I've got 10 days free for the Lich King trial and then I guess another 7 days for some other promotion.

Anyway, I was wondering if there's anything worthwhile I need to be updated on with the basics of this game or tips. Just treat me as a complete noob. Back when I played, I pretty much soloed my way through quests and stuff. Then the occasional dungeon and no raids. Should I try to get more seriously into the game and grab Lich King/Cataclysm?

The entire game has pretty much changed since you played. You're going to come (and be in Orgrimmar) and wonder what the hell happened. :p

Its much more fun to get to lvl 60 now.

I really wish Blizzard would merge some of the low population realms. Currently I have 4 level 85 toons on Kalecgos and there is never anything going on. I canceled my membership the other day since I can't exactly afford to do any server transfers and there is no point in continuing on a dead server. It's depressing thinking about how much time I spent leveling those toons on such a crappy server.

Blizzard actually does merge realms and/or provide free character transfers from time to time, both for high/low population and Horde/Alliance balance issues. Get people from your server to report the issue to them.
