I was thinking that mabey it actually had 32 pipelines but that locked 8 of them. Just a thought. Wasn't meant to offend anybody.

^^

K Ronin, time to put up or shut up.

This was a very good launch, super nice card which is already available (at somewhat inflated prices). Less power, heat and much quieter. Ronin was proved wrong and Rollo was wrong about gt sli being equal to next gen (not even as good an IQ). I guess Nividia makes bad pr people, but nice cards.

Umm ultra SLI trounces the single GTX in almost every benchmark.

Not according to hardocp. The IQ is improved and runs quieter. No comparison. :music:

Besides I was comparing to the 6800gt in sli.

Well if they are a similar cost one would be a fool to purchase a 6800U SLI over a single 7800 even though the SLI outdoes the single card. Heck I would say even if the SLI is $50 cheaper you would still be better off going with a single 7800.

Edit: Just in case anyone needs an explanation its because of SLI that a single 7800 is far better than two 6800s. Future expandability.

All stock. Core/Mem frequencies didn't read right on any of the applications.

In all of the reviews I read the SLI setup (Ultra) does not best a single GTX. In many/most of the benches the GTX is a tad faster.

1417 on mem, surely isnt out of reach

Control Panel frequencies were never touched (nor did I use any third party program).

I also ran each benchmark a minimum of 3 times to at least get an average, and they were all within ~20 points of each other for each run.

Umm no it doesn't. GTX matches or exceeds the Ultra in almost every instance.

Well something was overclocked cause nobody is getting anywhere near 8000 on a stock GTX.

Well, nothing was overclocked, so oh well. I'm really tired already of the blatant and obvious disregard for the information that's right in front of people's faces.

I told you the scores that were leaked were wrong, and I provide VALID results that corroborated what I said. If that's not enough for you people, I can't hold your hand, or make you believe. If you'd rather live in self loathing ignorance, your choice.

And, I still maintain that using 2k5 as a reference point for ANYTHING is idiotic.

Reception starts in about half an hour, but I hear the LAN party going on loud and clear, too. They're in the midst of the BF2 tourney at the moment, from what I can tell.

Man, I really tried. Went looking for you about five times to have a beer with you, by the LAN part pre-show, in the reception area post show.

The only thing I can figure is ifyou were on the back side of a kiosk and I just didn't make it around. :(

Oh well- great show wasn't it? The Unreal Tourney 2007 and Unreal 3 demos blew me away. Was nice to hear Tim Sweeney and the rest saying what I have been saying all along about the nV40 from a developers perspective.

I was AMAZED at the UE based offerings, and HDR's massive improvement.

I didn't think much of the supersampling change, but that's just me.

Tell you what, every time I hear Sween talk, I'd swear it was Gate's little brother who had a inferiority complex (he reminds me, somewhat, of Carmack, except Carmack's better looking).

I think the coup is AoE...my god.

That they did, and it looked AMAZING. Like nothing you've ever seen for a RTS...ever.

Also showed UT2k7, and Huxly (from Webzen..their MMOFPS offering), and a couple of other titles.
