looks like some kind of tachinid fly

I think you guessed it. I'd not seen a fly as big as that one before. It was larger than the bees!

Last weekend I took the hound out for a hike, and tried some bracketed photos thinking I'd try my hand at HDR ... only to discover I don't have a tool to do it.
( I naively thought that Lightroom could do this. )

Well, I have a EyeFi card in my D5000 which auto-uploads to my phone which auto-uploads to Google+ as backup.

I didn't realize Google would auto-HDR bracketed photos ... when I saw them in my G+ photo's, a few of them turned out... not bad.

Minolta MD 50 1.7, non Rokkor, my wife's dad had some old Minolta manual focus stuff. He gave me the 50 and a Samyang 100-500.

I'm waiting on a Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 58mm f1.4 from Ebay. Was supposed to be delivered yesterday but they sent it to the wrong place. 😡

I would love to get the 1.2, but holy crap at the prices.

So, I tried to go surfing to day, there were some awesome breaks on the outside, but getting to them was a bitch so I gave up after what seems like an eternity of paddling. Then, the Coast Guard showed up, and I realized I brought the wrong equipment to handle the waves. Enjoy.
