vB is awesome for those OCing forums where people post pics of setups (refer to XtremeSystems). Can you imagine the retards on ATOT posting retarded pictures? Or how about the newbs in GH here? Ugh. I like FuseTalk actually cuz it's simple. It runs quite fast and is a lot smoother than vB. vB is powerful but.... it's more complicated too. I love it because the places I go use it well (exception: HowardForums).

I think vB would be nice or allowing fusetalk with pictures. We know fusetalk allows pictures as evident by the posts in the hotdeals forum. I for one would like to see pictures enabled especially where pictures speak words in the cpu/oc forum.

The default real estate is garbage. You have to use the GM and Stylish scripts to get anything like a bearable layout.
 
I voted yes, but only people with 1,000+ posts should be allowed to do it. Hopefully, that will cut down on the image spam.

Either way, I'd imagine that the mods will have to ban a lot of folks for posting tub girl and goatse-like pictures before people get the idea that crap like that isn't allowed.
 
One of the other big forums I go to uses vB. I just noticed that my control panel on those forums allow me to show / not show avatars and images. People post annoying images and many have annoying avatars, but no one complains because each user can disable images and avatars if they want to.
 
Who cares about pictures, I just want a damned
tag so we can get rid of the ridiculous act of adding 30 lines of empty space to your post as a sufficient spoiler warning when people still have to scroll right past your spoiler (and every time it is quoted there in).

Make it a bannable offense to post spoilers outside of spoiler tag. Bam, done.

Also, per the picture discussion. Even pics.bbzzdd.com is banned by my websense proxy, which means every time I hit that site, my IP gets flagged by the proxy for the network admins. If pictures were allowed, I'd get hit with a bunch of flaggings and then eventually anandtech itself would get blocked by websense. So much for work safe. Although, that could be the best thing that ever happened if it occurred.

Here is what I posted in the other thread as well:

2 suggestions:

1. Send out an email before hand if you can, that will test how many people have actually updated their account. You could put a news post saying everyone should expect an email and those that don't receive one need to re-verify their profile or contact a mod. That way you hammer out problems before having password issues.

2. Put the new site up in parallel and in beta form. That way you can get passwords cleaned out before migrating all the real data. Just let people know that any posts in the new beta forum won't be saved. This will also allow you to have major testing of the site to hammer out any bugs before you switch over all the data.
