24 on thursday and friday. Let's see what tomorrow begets me.

Also scored a nice Giro ProLite helmet at the cycling shop today at 50% off (still 100 euro, for last years helmet, but it fits, and it's almost half the weight of my current MET, and matches my color scheme)

Total 18398

How does one get in on this?

Couple of months ago I started back in the saddle after 2 years of some not so regular cycling.

Back to my regular commute 19 miles a day x5 with a 30 mile ride on Sundays.

I have the kurt and iPad ready in the garage. Personal goal 150-200 miles per week. I plan to be a beast come spring.

Without reading 30 pages how does this work for the log etc.

Just add add whatever you did to the total, whenever you did it. Avoid doing a bulk addition of the last two years or that kind of thing, but only current progress.

After running into bats on my last ride, kept it relatively short.
Some 38 miles or so, with a 1500 feet@8-10% climb after the first 10 miles.
Got home after a bit over two hours, felt quite strong, especially on the first half of the climb. Second half is mercilessly steep, but I felt reasonable good at the top, but I was on the easiest gear for that entire part, and out of the saddle for almost 20%.

Return leg was some smooth riding, not quite going in the "high" gear, but managing a very nice cadence for that 20 mph average.

Replaced the rear wheel which was developing a full on tear in the sidewall and now I'm hauling ass. I imagine I can increase these stats if I had some rest too. My fucking legs are tired as shit.

How do you hit a curb with your bike!?

22 miles today. I'm actually going faster now that I took some time off from riding. Weird.

16mph on the street, then cut onto the sidewalk for a short 100 feet at a dangerous intersection.

While cutting onto the crosswalk, there is that slight bump where the ramp/street meet. Yeah I hit that at full speed, heard a hard CLANK, and was like "aw shit, hope I didn't get a flat". an hour later while riding my bike from the gym to my office it felt like it was flat...and now looking at my bike behind me it's definitely flat.

Ouch. Why didn't you do a mini jump where the road meets the curb? I do that when the bums who made the curb are too lazy to smooth it and left an one inch bump between the curb and road. If I don't do that, and hit the curb wrong, I crash. And it's not pretty. So I just jump the damn curb.

I've never actually tried jumping anything. The curb was just as you described, a 1/2 - 1inch bump.

I got 20-30 pounds on my rear in the form of panniers and platform pedals, so I'm not sure how that jumping thing will go.

I'll probably stop trying to go so fast up that curb =X

Getting flats is a bad sign though.
Last time I violently hit a curb, I wrecked the wheel (ripped aluminum looks scary), but didn't get a flat.

Try changing tires and checking wheels for debris. The tube/tire system should normally not break down in such a situation. Make sure the wheel liner is properly installed.
Also, always carry a spare tube ;)

I just used my replacement tube on Sunday to fix my bike...yes, 5 days ago...also on the rear wheel. I also replaced my front/rear wheels on Sunday (Vittoria Randonneur's).

This is my 3rd flat in 4 weeks. The last one I understood (my wheel was going out, had a gash on the sidewheel). This one kinda hurt - didn't expect to go through 2 tubes in 1 week :( Was gonna buy a 4pack of Kenda's today...

I have a patch kit that I'll probably try to use for the first time this weekend. I'll also replace the wheel liner while I'm at it (got some velox rim tape that I was too lazy to install last Sunday. Guess that was a mistake)

Climbed the fabled 21 corners to Alpe d'Huez today, for the first time in my life.
Total of 1800 meters altitude, and with the descent roughly 70 kilometers.

Did crash out in the descent though, flat front in turn 14, something pierced the 4 week old front. Mounting the tire with cold hands is quite nasty.

And it wasn't only getting cold, but also dark, I missed the last bus by around 25 minutes, so I had to call a taxi from Bourg d'Oisans to Grenoble....Ended up paying 130 euros for that privilege.

At least I got up there, and I claim 45 miles! Would've been around 80, i I had had enough light to make it home. It's all down hill too.

At least I didn't die, I guess. If that tire had deflated in a fast corner, instead of in a switch back, I'd have hit the tarmac/rock at 40-50 mph....

So, the new total is:

18772

and some road rash.
