Asus GTX 580 DirectCU II On The Egg

Happy for you, but I just don't see the point coming from my point of view which is:

I like things fast and quiet, so if I'm willing to drop 500 on a vid card, I don't want it to take up three spaces while spilling heat into my case, thus causing me to run more fans at higher RPMs to compensate, while also possibly lowering my max OC for my CPU without that beginning to sound like a wind tunnel.

If I had money to burn on this, then I'd also have money to go the distance and put this bad boy on water, while getting more performance with less noise and better internal temps.

But then again, that's my point of view 🙂 I"m still jealous....

I THINK the big fans and huge heatsink with the large vents in the back prevent the whole extra heat thing...

Have an Antec 1200 so case temps rising isn't a big deal for me as all the fans are on high but i think the directcu pushes air out of the case. Atleast part of it.

That EVGA 580 is such a ripoff. You can just order a 580 and WB for over a hundred dollars less.

Understood. But didn't you have a Corsair on your CPU? Is that what led you away from it? Or were you doing more than this earlier?

I have an H70 currently. It's alright but it's sealed. I used to be a big water guy but i just don't have the desire to play with a water setup anymore. Yeah it'll perform better then the DirectCU II but 950+ core is plenty with a 580 and i can see 1Ghz easily happening with a modded bios.

Sounds like a plan. Good luck!

I'm having second thoughts about SLI, and think I'm going to stick with a single GPU setup, since I'm only going with a single display (I know you're doing surround). But since it's just one I'm going to go all out for it.

Are you going to report back your results for this card? I'd be really interested to see how it turns out for you.

I really really like racing games, but have to say F1 2010 looks naf, especially on eyefinity in that video. When you pass a car, it looks all stretched in the left or right screen!!

Anyway, Geoff Crammond made the best F1 racers!
