The more you try to stifle this thread the worse it looks upon you. Im asking for an investigation. You (and other here) are trying to stop one from happening. Who do you think looks like a paid viral marketer? Me asking for knowledge or you trying to block it?
/owned
When it comes to anything do with AMD it is you who will always look worse because your motives are clear.

If this was so important it would be investigated on many sites whether you ask for an investigation or not.

But I am not against it though so press for it and carry on.

LoL, what a load of BS. I play on both AMD HD 7970 and Nvidia GTX 680 and I can assure you I cannot notice any stuttering on the AMD compared to Nvidia card. I use nvidia inspector and radeonpro to set adaptive/dynamic vsync or FPS caps if I notice any stutter.

Do you know WHY we have reviews?
Because peoples eyes cannot be trusted.

Even to this date, we have people who refuse to look at the data...and thinks micro-stutter is made up.

Just because your fysiology is to bad to detect it.....dosn't mean other people can't detect it.
Or high speed cameras cannot detect it.

Bottom line:

You eyes are not a vaild source of facts....get over it.

So people don't like objective investigations about this matter, an enthusiast forum indeed.

Do you notice excessive stutter on your AMD card? I don't mind investigations if they are conducted correctly. The fact that TR have contradicted many of their own previous reviews tells me the new test on a Windows 8 system is the most likely culprit.

Running a test multiple times on a Windows 7 system and noticing no problems, then running it once on a Windows 8 system. I wonder what the problem could be.

Are you for real? Now I'm a blind idiot who can't detect my AMD and Nvidia cards give an identical experience when it comes to stutters.

When it comes to playing games what your eyes sees and notices is all that matters.

Statistical facts are sometimes only important for the facts in themselves, so yes investigate for that reason.

Only two sites with questionable credibility and methodologies are saying ''It just feels smoother but we can't measure or prove it''.
So let me get this straight if [H] and TR praises AMD it is alright and will be quoted left and right but when they notice something wrong they are not credible gotcha.Dude just give it up, you are not helping yourself.

Are you noticing stutter on your AMD card in any of the games either site tested? If so can it be eliminated by using vsync or FPS caps etc?

It's a simple question.

I have to frequently use both methods to eliminate stutter on my GTX 680 and HD 7970.

No it's not alright if they praise anybody based on crap 'investigations'.

But Nvidia fan boys are the ones who are hammering these findings over and over.Don't pretend to be neutral.I am not buying it.

My brother games with 7950 DC II and never told me about it.But then again my brother didn't do the review did he? there is a reason we have tools to deduce a solution objectively. It is not like saying NV is smoother will help [H] and TR with more page hits.If there is a concern lets find the truth.

Techreport did offer some subjective findings but tries to offer latency numerical data, which is also welcomed but even more detailed data and investigations are more than welcomed, too.

How do you know they are not asking for objective investigations? I never said I am neutral but I have no issues discussing NV's shortcomings. That's the difference.

Neither am I and both AMD and Nvidia have many shortcomings that are real.

No need to invent or fabricate more shortcomings.

Again we are down to the basic facts. Do you seriously think if my AMD 7970 caused stutters that I wouldn't be up in arms over it? Do you seriously think I would defend AMD if my expensive HD 7970 ran games like crap?

I'm seeing a lot of non AMD GPU owners ask for an investigation into why the cards they have no experience with are stuttering? Even though many AMD owners have stated and shown graphs showing they are not getting stuttering.

When you get a chance go try your brothers HD 7950 rig and see if you detect excessive stutter.

I game using an AMD HD 7970 and a GTX 680 in two different rigs and there is nothing strange with the AMD system. Honestly, if this was such a big issue don't you think your brother and other AMD GPU owners would have already been at AMDs doors with the pitchforks and burning torches. :)

So then, if more websites test for stutter issues, they'll find nothing. And then you can be happy and go on your merry way... So what's the big deal?

Wow, where did all the thread crappers come from?

If you don't want an investigation, that is fine. All you need to do is not participate.

There are many other enthusiasts here who want facts to substantiate or in-substantiate anecdotal claims being made on other websites / threads.

Subjective claims do not further this end, nor does a divisive attitude towards those calling for investigation.

Now, let's stop feeding the trolls and get back OT.

Maybe some people are very susceptible to it.Unless we can find an objective way of deducing that we can see more such threads popping up in future.I think it will be great if we can find a conclusive solution. That's the reason I recommended using performance monitoring tools in the first place.

I had a discussion with Alex about micro-stuttering and he couldn't perceive it -- to the level I teased him about it -- asked for investigations on smoothness years and years ago based on AFR frame-rate is not the same as single GPU frame-rate and not apples-to-apples.

ALex authored this outstanding article:

http://www.rage3d.com/reviews/video/ati4870x2cf/index.php?p=2

ALex is now the editor of Beyond3d.

More investigations are always welcomed to me.

Nobody invented anything. If you believe that MS is not a issue with AMD cards then why do you oppose the investigation? maybe the myth will be debunked once and for all.But as a matter of fact I always thought AFR introduces MS but that TR article proved otherwise. So lets find the answer shall we.

Ryan, they guy who does AT's testing has already said he has noticed no difference in regards to stuttering when comparing AMD to NVidia in single GPU configurations.

It would be nice to see AT do this testing but seeing graphs with frame-time measurements on them does not make me suddenly think my HD 7970 is crap. Review sites run game swith vsync off, most normal users don't.

I can see why this is necessary, nVidia is losing basically in every benchmark except efficiency (power consumption/heat) Which can be a very tough sell to consumers. There becoming a harder recommendation amongst informed consumers.

But even if that is the motivation I'd still like to see what Ryan can come up with. Anandtech probably has 100x the internet traffic as techreport and [H] so no matter how much it gets brought up there it would never get the attention it would get from consumers as it would here.

Agreed, for those who are susceptible to stuttering it would be a very worthy investigation, everyone is different after all. My issue is that many people and sites have never noticed this stutter problem and all of a sudden there is a "war" according to the OP.

Even [H] stated that stutter is only an issue on CF systems. The FC3 tech review on [H] showed only a problem in the scripted cut-scenes. I think it is a mountain out of a molehill to be honest. The same as the recent "Nvidia is not DX 11.1 compliant" BS that turned out to be nothing.

FFS...you do know that MICROSTUTTER is linked to MULTI-GPU and AFR right?

You post like facts are unknown to you..and that is a bad posting foundation.

@ICDP facts are facts and if some people want to know then so be it, trivial or not.

All that matters is how those facts are then applied once they are found.

But why should we make up metrics just to throw one manufacturer or another a bone?
