When i grew up if you werent a doctor, lawyer, or engineer you made you family loose face, im just lucky i liked computers. I'm not a good indian son though, i only have my Bacheolers of Science, i need to get a masters and preferablly a Ph.D
All the people in my family were expected to got college and it never even occured to me that i might not.
its a lot about the work ethic they have. and inresponse to red dawn's comments about the Sihks that run convience stores, they might be running them but i gaurantee you that their kids wont.

It's a shame all these Hot Shot Hindu Doctors and Engineers feel the need to abandon their homeland for riches abroad and leave India mired in third world poverty and her population dealing with rampant disease, a high infant mortality rate and starvation. Of course most of them are untouchables and really can't be bothered with by the Upper Castes.i hate to say it but its all the white people who bring down the quality of the code

A lot of the Indians at my company send a lot of their earnings back to their families in India.
I've heard that time and time again. Wouldn't their expertise be more of a benefit to the population as a whole instead of the money sent just to their immediate families?A lot of the Indians at my company send a lot of their earnings back to their families in India.

#1 Thier is no border for them to run over to get to the US so only the best/brightest and most motivated get to come to the US after quite a lot of work. It's kind of like only picking Harvard graduates fromt he US and listing thier income level.
#2 They are obsessed with money and success as well as education and the future of thier children more so than most Americans
#3 They work thier asses off often to the detriment of thier social lives etc. to be successfull
#4 Even non technical Asian Indian graduates tend to do very well due to working hard and not making waves. My dad who iis a PHD in a social science breaks that 90k barrier
#5 I'm not saying this is all good or bad, but it is easily explainable when you look at what motivates them and how they work
#6 Or you could just use the explanation bandied about by some on this board in the past and say that they are smarter than everyone else 🙂
LOL...wasn't as random as it seemed. Going under the assumption you worked at MS, and given your statement I wondered if you might have known him - he's a south indian at MS, I believe he was in some way heading up the win 2k development.Originally posted by: Ameesh

I wonder if that figure of Asian Indians making 90k/year is based on personal gross earnings or household income. According to the US Census, Asians have the highest household incomes out of just about every racial group. This does not necessarily mean that all Asians are rich. Many people who are not asian fail to realize that alot of asians, especially those that have immigrated in the past 15 or so years live in large family groups. 90k a year may seem like a whole lot, but its not that much if there are 5 fulltime wage-earners in the household.
