Hoping the Bush administration shakes things up staff-wise. Has a HUGE potential for mending fences and bringing Kerry supporters over.

PLEASE PLEASE let it be true.....

make powell stay and bring mcCain or someone somewhat normal to the table....

Is DOJ still gonna crack down on file sharing?

God I hope not. Because stealing is an important freedom that we CANNOT afford to lose.😀

This is S.O.P. for cabinet members after an election. Bush may not accept the resignation, but I'd expect a few changes. If Bush were smart he'd retire Rumsfeld but I'd pray Wolfy isn't his replacement.

Yeah.

"Bye, y'all don't come back now, y'hear?"

Hold your cheers until you find out who his replacement is.
Also true.
Michael Savage? Sean Hannity? Anne Coulter? Yeah, maybe things could be worse.

Geez, I shouldn't have mentioned Anne Coulter; checking her website.
"They had liberal thugs ransacking Bush-Cheney headquarters, stealing Bush-Cheney signs..."
Kerry/Edwards sign theft was rampant around where I live. Very few Bush signs ever were touched.

"...and sending a thousand American soldiers to their deaths just for oil."
She calls that a false accusation. Right. When a horrible dictator is killing his own people, but it's in a country with no strategic value, we just sort of ignore it and hope it goes away. Just a crazy coincidence then that Iraq was a big oil provider, and we decide to invade and occupy.

Ack, must close that browser window. That woman needs serious mental therapy, as will I if I keep reading.

That would make 2 people who've resigned from heading the EPA under Bush.
Yeah; what's the point. Most of what's done in the EPA anymore is overridden, overwritten, or ignored, so why bother?

make powell stay and bring mcCain or someone somewhat normal to the table....
That would help considerably.

off the AP wire

WASHINGTON - Attorney General John Ashcroft (news - web sites) is likely to leave his post before the start of President Bush (news - web sites)'s second term, senior aides said Thursday.

Ashcroft, 62, is described as exhausted from leading the Justice Department (news - web sites) in fighting the domestic war on terrorism since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Stress was a factor in Ashcroft's health problems earlier this year that resulted in removal of his gall bladder.

Ashcroft is expected to resign before Bush's Jan. 20 inauguration, said aides who spoke only on condition of anonymity. They said there is a small chance he would stay on, at least for a short time, if Bush asked him.

The attorney general has not officially informed his staff of his future plans, spokesman Mark Corallo said.

At a news conference, Bush said he hasn't made any decisions about his Cabinet.

Ashcroft, a former two-term governor and senator from Missouri, has long been a favorite among Bush's base of religious conservatives. He also is a lightning rod for Democrats and other critics on issues ranging from the anti-terrorism Patriot Act, which expanded rules for eavesdropping, to abortion rights and gun control.

Names that have been floated in recent weeks as a possible replacement include Ashcroft's former deputy, Larry Thompson, who would become the first black attorney general. Others include Marc Racicot, who was Bush's campaign manager, and White House general counsel Alberto Gonzalez, who would give Bush a notable Hispanic appointment.

depending of course on who gets the job now......

The consideration of his replacement is ....Rudolph Guliani. 🙂

This also from CBS and ABC Radio news.

Is he preparing for appointment to the supreme court?

No, the next Supreme Court nominee will likely be hispanic, and likely from Texas or Florida.

Ashcroft has stepped on everyones toes in the Bush Admin, he wasnt fired because Bush is "loyal".

In any event, in the past there has always been a good majority of those appointed resigning because 4 years of working at the highest level of govt is exhausting and you rarely get to see your family.

Good riddance to this turkey. Retribution, by God's will, has begun against the Bush Regime.

Hopefully he will be replaced by someone with more common sense, rather than another radical that Cheney will probably shove down our throats again.

wtf.

why do people pull Rudy out of their hat any time Bush's government has an opening? Attorny General would be a pretty big downgrade for him. no way he'd take it.

edit: and we're better off for it. he tramples on civil liberties while he was mayor of NYC.

Downgrade from what? Hes no longer working other than speaking engagements, and rumor has it he will be seeking the GOP Nomination in 2008. AG would be a perfect fit for him since he worked as a Federal Prosecutor under Reagen.

Rudy is a Bush whore, highly visible as such during the past couple months, and will not be able to win an election.

Well....whoever it is... Im sure the liberals will have a hay day bashing the crap out of them.

Well duh, I mean, we don't really have anything else to do...except watch what the highest up is about to screw up next. 🙂
And just remember - partisan bashing always works both ways. My previous post on Anne Coulter is a fine example of it. Yeah well. Politicians. Gotta love 'em.

Get a grip. I'm a conservative and the guy is/was a jackass. He trampled on just about every conservative ideal he could and is a poster child for a large, invasive government.

Oh goody, I sure hope this is true. Now all that's left is ditching Rumsfeld and things will look a tad better for the Bush admin.

I was just going to say the same thing! PLEASE get rid of Rumsfeld AND Wolfowitz!

I heard Ashcroft is indeed out, Powell is leaving, and Rumsfield will also. You heard right, early reports from my "sources" say Rummy will leave.

Old Rumbo is 72. It's time for him to enjoy some kickbacks from the military industry and he has been keeping a very low profile after things in Iraq turned sour.

Powell has also been on the way out for a long time. Perhaps we will see Condi as the first female and black defense secretary. I hope Wolfowitz gets to be foreign secretary. 🙂

Thank god Bush has got some sense in him. I won't be able to forgive him for what he has done in his first four years, but I sure as hell will respect him a lot more if he's able to bring this country together and bring in some experienced and knowledgable men to his cabinet.

In all fairness, I think all his cabinet members are experienced and knowledgeable. I just think some of them are malevolent and scary.

I'll believe it when I see it.
