Wow maybe there is Silver linings in Rain Clouds!!!
Let's hope. Great step in the right direction. Let's see if we can get rid of Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz too.

It is a shame that Powell seems to be on his way out. He's the closest thing they have to a conscience. And a deep thinker.

He's an Uncle Tom. The Admin writes the script and he puts his credibility on the line by rehearsing it.

You are a piece of crap and not worthy of being pissed on by someone like Colin Powell. Your attitude is THE reason that the african-american community is still in the state it is. Continuing to buy into the victim mentality and villifying and attacking any african-american who is rich, powerful, or successful is not going to help your cause.
Bravo!!!

Where is Shrub gonna find someone more reactionary than Asscroft?!?!?!

 Is it really Bush dividing our country? I'd say replacing Ashcroft is a step in the right direction towards unity, and yet the left still bash Bush for it. Oh wait, you're the people who still believe he lost in 2000.

:disgust::roll:

Most likely Ashcroft successors:
Marc Racicot
Tom Ridge
Rudy

Most likely Powell successors:
John Danforth
Joseph Biden :Q
Condi

BIDEN???? That's impossible, he's bashed the sh!t out of Bush, calling him a liar, etc...No way in hell he'll even get the time of day from bush.

Rumor I heard puts Rudy Giuliani at the top of the candidate list to replace Ashcroft.

I'd have to call that an improvement, but RG has been all too willing to crack down on art and free expression when it doesn't suit him, and to me his totalitarian streak has always been his Achille's heel.

wtf.

why do people pull Rudy out of their hat any time Bush's government has an opening? Attorny General would be a pretty big downgrade for him. no way he'd take it.

edit: and we're better off for it. he tramples on civil liberties while he was mayor of NYC.

Maybe not attorney general, but Rudy definately wants something from the Bush administration. Of all the Republicans lately, he's been the best at regurgitating the Bush line time and time again and never providing real answers to questions...

Is he preparing for appointment to the supreme court?
He has pancreatitis & is in poor health...
Karma's a bitch, ain't it?

Wow, what a good sport. Wishing ill health on someone simply because you disagree with his viewpoints.

Conjur, I really had hoped you were above such lame attacks. 🙁

That being said, I will definately be pleased to see Ashcroft out of the AG's office.

Apparently Gilman, at the EPA, tendered his resignation. Can't find any links on it yet, though.

That would make 2 people who've resigned from heading the EPA under Bush.

Can you feel the love and acceptance from the liberals?

Truth hurts, eh?

Ashcroft has done wonders to destroying civil liberties, spreading fear and hatred, and running a government in secrecy. I have no respect for the man. His Christian Reconstructionist influence will soon be gone.

A-fvcking-men!

Having no respect for the man and wishing him ill are two different things. I have never claimed that I had any respect for the man and have long wished he wasn't the AG but I've never wished harm to the man.

Isn't it a custom that everyone submits their resignations at start of new term and lets the president decide if he wants to accept them?

I don't think Token Powell is an Uncle Tom 😀 I think he is a soldier in a civilian job.
