I think the community & the varied discussion sections. I do hit up more specific stuff like Hardforum or video editing communities sometimes, but the AT forums has a good vibe & a lot of great people. I've learned a ton of stuff since joining too...I was probably at Geek Squad level when I started, enough to be dangerous, and now I'm an admin for hundreds of people, and a large part of that, in all seriousness, is from either asking questions or answering other people's questions over the years on this forum. I didn't have a lot of geeks in my area to confer with, so having a nation/global-wide discussion forum really helped out.

Plus there's always someone who knows something about what you want to learn...home theater, Macs, Linux, security, bodybuilding, car stuff, grilling/cooking, whatever. I think part of the reason I've pursued some activities is because I've been able to get good information & discuss stuff with people on here. I think all forums have their share of trolls & spammers, but this one in particular sort of reminds me of being in my college computer classes where you have a bunch of people all interested in similar things, throwing around ideas, talking about different things, etc.

I like it here

variety, people who know their shit, immortality of the community made me choose this forum.
Excessive time to waste procrastinating makes me spend time on forums.

Members like Kaido and Jeff7 who are Elite worthy 😱

I like the culture here.

It's not too strict like Teamliquid nor is it too relaxed. I learn a lot from these people. I'm fascinated how some of you possess such intimate knowledge of one topic (like Rubycon with all her industrial vids, wtf?). You never see that among your typical friends, etc.

And quite frankly, I simply don't know other forums or bother to learn about others. There has to be a lot of other big or bigger forums with similar culture, no?

NECRO!!!

The answer is: Not much.

"Change of Culture" almost ruined this place.

But its still an ok source of tech news and advice. Once in a blue moon I am actually able to help somebody.

The community here is the best for asking any sort of technical questions. Also, the population here isn't too large, which is a plus IMO.

This forum is a hell of a lot better than TechIMO. I used to be a member there and they will delete your threads if they don't approve. The site sucks with not that many posters and all the same bat shit crazy assholes. LOL!

I was tricked! Someone told me this forum were giving away free iPods and iPads...

Honest Answer:

Less raging and attacks in this forum... not very many social media douchebags where as other website forums are full of them...

Also since I came into the "off topic" forum my post count and daily LOL sky rocketed...

While I was reading anandtech website maybe for 9-8 years occassionally. I didn't join the forums until late 2012 where I was member of HardForum and Extreme-overclocking at the time, while both sites' forums are very good, the [H] became too much of flame war forum lately, flooded with fanboys so much that I just lost interest and Extreme overclocking somehow started to be very innactive. So I crashed at AT, which seems to have quite wise user base, and being ok with me so far.

It's nice being able to associated with other people like myself - those that bring in $250,000+ a year, are married to a supermodel, and have another supermodel as a mistress.

Of course ATOT has people from different stations in life (the low-born types that don't understand why you tip servants, or the ones that bang women with pointy elbows) but even these peasants are generally tolerable as long as one doesn't accidentally click the P&N or DC cesspools.

Naturally I come for the political party viral marketing pay checks.

Far as I'm concerned you're all a bunch of bastards.
