How did you do it on 20k though? That doesn't seem like much money to travel the world like you did for a year.
Outside of Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, things are incredibly cheap. Lodging ranged anywhere from $5-10 a night, you could feed yourself for another $5-10. I spent $20k in a year, and if I wanted to make that money last another six months, I could've. Easily.

I don't recall seeing an Asian dude in Luxor, but I was another asian dude. I stayed in Nefertiti Hotel by the way, right beside this street with this restaurant that has "recommended by Rough Guide" right on the signboard![]()
