As long as the military is stretched to near breaking with combat in Iraq and Afghanistan, it will never compete with the Private Military Contractor. The most desireable soldiers are being lured away with much bigger paychecks. Think of it as another way Outsourcing is harming the US.

Not surprising really.

I wouldn't my son or daughter dying for oil.

But I also don't like my taxes being used to lure the poor so they can die for my gas prices.

I would much rather that the military pays a more competitive salary to attract more recruits than have a draft instituted.

Do they give you two flags when they ship you home in a box? :(

Do you feel twice as good when your loved one dies in a war based entirely on lies? :|

Feel twice as good when you repeat that line every other post? Come up with something new.. nobody but you and the radical left believe that one.

psst. Here's a secret for you:

If people in the military don't want to potentially die in a war then they shouldn't have signed up in the first place.

I'll come up with something new when the Bushwhackos do. Until then, I'll just keep telling the truth.
nobody but you and the radical left believe that one.
Uh-huh! Keep stroking yourself like that as the body count rises. :(

Thanks to Engineer's link from his thread about Bush's fall from grace in current polls.
The public also is showing concerns about the direction of the country as the war in Iraq drags on. Only about one-third of adults, 35 percent, said they thought the country was headed in the right direction. Forty-one percent said they supported Bush's handling of the war in Iraq, also a low-water mark.
Found any good WMD's lately?

I'm all for patriotism and volunteering, but what do they expect when they piss all over the good faith and intentions of those with the guts to volunteer? :(

The Bush adminstration has tragically squandered the good faith and crediblity of the country and the military with their war of lies. :|

I have an idea, EBAY!. Yup, you want $X, start a Reserved Auction on EBay Selling your willingness to sign up with the Military. Then E-Mail the Recruiters with a link to your Auction. ;)

Keep telling youself that and you might end up believing it. Bush's numbers are down to 43% with a BULLET,hell its wonder there even that high. I think even the CHICKENHAWK RW'ers are a tad worried about a draft starting up. The army can't meet their recruiting goal month after month.

Then what are they dying for? WMD's? Iraq a threat to the US? Iraqi freedom?

They're dying for a lie. Money hand over fist dumped into that hellhole for absolutely nothing!

Last I knew the way that the bonus pay-out goes is that on a re-up you get a percentage - 25% or so on the aniversy.
Then each subsequent anniversy you get another portional pay of the remaining balance - effectively 10,000 per year.
Each $ 10K incremental issue is subject to an immediate Federal and State deduction so you might net $ 7K
That also counts and is applied as taxable income in the next year.

"Certain Positions"

We regret to inform you that the the position for which you qualified is not part of this list. Thank you , however, for joining the U.S. Armed Forces.

Reality bites don't it, deal with it because he is absoultly right. That idiot isn't worth one death, much less thousands, and that is only counting Americans.

I tell you what, there is a family I know in town, whose nephew died in Iraq. How would you like to talk to them and tell them that their nephew died for nothing, for a lie. That freedom and liberty are only a nuisance. That bringing liberty to people who were opressed for decades by the most brutal dictator in the Middle East doesn't matter. Of course I doubt you understand the real price of freedom as you never had to fight for it.

Like he said, reality sucks, don't be pissed at him, be pissed at the one responsible for telling the lie that got the young man into the situation.

Until you make that connection expect to lose more people, even friends and family.

What connection? Who's pissed? If anything, I'm sad. Then again, as I said, I do not expect any understanding from someone who has no idea what freedom means to opressed. Hope you'll never have to find out.
