If I'm elected governor of Oregon I will keep Nevada and Arizona residents out of the state until we can figure out what the hell is going on.

As an Oregonian I have to ask if you will use regular deportation methods (horse trailers) for crazy Arizonan and Nevadan ranchers who somehow make it into Oregon or will you order a cannon be built that would be used to launch them back into their respective states? If so and you add Idaho, Montana and Utah to your list, then you will have my vote!

You would definitely have my vote in your reelection bid if the cannon occasionally misfires and sends a random person into the Sun.

Where is the FBI keeping the accused? Portland?

Don't want their friends to have any reason to stick around in Burns....

Some of them, I assume, are good people so my administration won't intentionally fire anyone into the sun. I will be deporting them via canon though in the hopes of instigating an arms race that results in all the western states firing canon loads of morons at each other.

The ones busted here in Oregon were shipped off to Multnomah County Jail (Portland) and are being held there at the request of the feds.

You sound like a very fair-minded individual who knows how to turn morons into moronade and also have the ability to deal with adversity with humorous solutions that provide maximum bang for the tax dollar.

You have my vote!

Maybe interactions with more urban dwellers will broaden their perspectives...

Other than the loss of Lavoy Finicum due to suicide-by-cop, it was a clean sweep for Oregon and the Feds.

Poppa Bundy's unrelated capture (on Nevada charges) and arrest is the frosting on this shitty fruitcake.

An update on the mess that Bundy's Moron Militia left behind:

Investigators so far have found firearms, explosives, spoiled food and a trench of human feces at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, federal prosecutors said.
I bet it smells like... patriotism!

Meanwhile, a federal judge agrees that Old Man Bundy is a flight risk and will be held until trial.

"He does not recognize federal courts – claiming they are illegitimate – does not recognize federal law, refuses to obey federal court orders, has already used force and violence against federal law enforcement officers while they were enforcing federal court orders, nearly causing catastrophic loss of life or injury to others,'' Myhre's detention memo said. "He has pledged to do so again in the future to keep federal law enforcement officers from enforcing the law against him.''
I agree, he would just head back to his ranch and yell at the government to come and get him. In other news, the government doesn't think he's much of a cattle rancher either:

It also challenges Cliven Bundy's claim of being a Nevada cattle rancher, noting that he lets them run wild on public lands until he has them trapped and hauled off to be sold or slaughtered for his own consumption. "Bereft of human interaction, his cattle that manage to survive are wild, mean and ornery,'' the memo said.
He's sure not much of a cattle rancher if that's how he operates. Now I understand why he hates the public land laws... it makes him get out of his house and manage his herd and everybody knows that Cliven needs his naps:

Cliven Bundy, the notorious scofflaw cattle rancher from Bunkerville, Nevada, was taking his midday nap when I arrived at his spread. One of his daughters — he has fourteen grown children, and they all seemed to have mustered at the ranch — told me that the nap was “very important” and our two o’clock appointment for an interview would have to wait for “whenever he wakes up.”

[and then later on...]

While I waited for Bundy to reappear, I watched another of his grandsons rope a dummy bull for rodeo practice. Finally, after half an hour, the bodyguard stood over me and grimaced, his hand on his holstered gun. “All right, that’s it, time to go.” I hesitated; the bodyguard shook his head. “I think he’s gone back to sleep,” he said. “The man needs his naps.”
I hope the old man is getting lots of rest now.

I just had a weird thunk but a good thunk. When they make the Bunkerville movie starring Tom Hanks as Cliven, the soundtrack needs to be nothing but James Brown music.

The feds description in court documents of 'cattle rancher' Cliven Bundy:

While Bundy claims he is a cattle rancher, his ranching operation – to the extent it can be called that – is unconventional if not bizarre. Rather than manage and control his cattle, he lets them run wild on the public lands with little, if any, human interaction until such time when he traps them and hauls them off to be sold or slaughtered for his own consumption. He does not vaccinate or treat his cattle for disease; does not employ cowboys to control and herd them; does not manage or control breeding; has no knowledge of where all the cattle are located at any given time; rarely brands them before he captures them; and has to bait them into traps in order to gather them.

Nor does he bring his cattle off the public lands in the off-season to feed them when the already sparse food supply in the desert is even scarcer. Raised in the wild, Bundy’s cattle are left to fend for themselves year-round, fighting off predators and scrounging for the meager amounts of food and water available in the difficult and arid terrain that comprises the public lands in that area of the country. Bereft of human interaction, his cattle that manage to survive are wild, mean and ornery. At the time of the events giving rise to the charges, Bundy’s cattle numbered over 1,000 head, straying as far as 50 miles from his ranch and into the Lake Mead National Recreation Area (“LMNRA”), getting stuck in mud, wandering onto golf courses, straying onto the freeway (causing accidents on occasion) – foraging aimlessly and wildly, roaming in small groups over hundreds of thousands of acres of federal lands that exist for the use of the general public for many other types of commercial and recreational uses such as camping, hunting, and hiking.
Let me guess... Bundy is an organic cattle rancher who believes that free range cattle are the best!

Honestly, this is not too different from how many other public land ranchers operate. Arizona passed special exemptions to animal cruelty laws to protect ranchers from prosecution.

Cattle isn't the business, harvesting subsidies and avoiding property tax on the base property is the business.

That sounds about right... as usual, follow the money. Somewhat relating to what you are saying, here's an article from someone who ostensibly supports people who have problems with how the government does things and yet they vehemently disagree with the Ol' Man Bundy and his kids. The went to the refuge in search of kindred souls and found nothing of the kind.

It's a bit long but read the whole thing... I was very surprised by the way this person saw the occupation and not only that, but they see a much bigger picture in the advocacy of selling off our public lands (or turning them over to the state) and what it would do to our country.

This person gets it...
