They trust the Feds more than Y'allqaeda.

Ok, that would not take that much at all.

Because they have a relationship with the Feds that they find agreeable.

Do to the current circumstances, the current conduct of the tribe might not mean that at all. There are major complaints by Native Americans about the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and their interaction with the state and federal governments overall.

This...

...Is a weird comment.

Is anything stopping him just leaving?

That would be a simple end without violence.

He still courts the delusion that the only alternative isn't going out in a blaze of Glory, that they'll inspire a greater revolution. Real Soon Now. You bet.

Please-

We feel strongly because we have had a good working relationship with the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge," she said. "We view them as a protector of our cultural rights in that area.

Regarding that thought, this article from Oregon Live makes it sound like things got a bit more tense today. The short of it is that Bundy will not recognize the authority of the Feds unless the sheriff has deputized them. Bundy asked if they had been and was told that the authorities are working together to resolve this. That wasn't good enough for him so he pushed more on if the Feds had the sheriff's authority or not and was told that they did. Bundy demanded proof and was told none would be forthcoming, so he left...
Bundy, speaking with an intensity unusual given his typical mild demeanor, insisted on knowing if the FBI had gotten permission to operate in the county. He kept pressing when the sheriff's lieutenant said local and federal authorities were working together.
When Needham said the FBI did have the sheriff's authority, Bundy demanded to see it in writing. He was told no.
A taut-faced Bundy walked away from the encounter and uncharacteristically snapped at a reporter's question: "Don't put words in my mouth."
Asked what his next steps would be, he said he was going back to the refuge to work.
At least he isn't wasting his time praying about it...lol!

Why the hell did they not arrest him when he was in town?

This pussy-footing around has gone on for too long.

From the article:

Bundy's visit this time lasted no more than five minutes before he and several carloads of accompanying militants headed to town for the courthouse.
Timing is everything when you are dealing with armed crazy people.

News is that there are two young kids (girls, ages 8 & 9) at the refuge with her parents. There's nothing like keeping the family together, even when overthrowing the federal government!

Stupid fucking parents...

They are probably someones wives and more likely than not some kinfolks wife. They'll probably be expected to provide grandchildren in a few years.

no. these kids are not someones wives. I bet it's just some idiot figured having the kids would do a few things.

1) keep the police from acting with force. Keep them from doing another waco texas situation.

2) or they have them in hopes of having another waco texas situation

The Bundy Boys have called their 'grand jury' together and the 'judge' is letting the press know what their rights are regarding how free they are to interview and report on said 'grand jury'...

“So make sure (you know) what you are doing because if you ask me: How many? What they say? Why they vote? You’re committing the crime of felony and I will hold you accountable,” said DeMoreta-Folch.
Yup, the Righteous Defenders of the Constitution have decided that it's a felony if the press asks anything about the 'grand jury'. Regarding their interpretation of the Constitution, the ranchers have a few questions on just how the subsidized public lands that they used in the past will be able to be used by them now that they are in private hands.

Occupiers say ranchers would revert to "historic" use of that land to continue grazing. What they seemed to have overlooked is that their plan calls for private ownership of the same high desert expanses that the federal government now rents at subsidized cost to the ranchers. They haven't answered how ranchers would graze on what becomes private land.
What about the two ranchers that the Moron Militia were crowing about the other day who announced that they were going to tear up their grazing contracts, only one of them being an Oregon rancher? They had the 'ceremony' yesterday and the only guy who tore up his contract was a rancher from New Mexico. Word is that some ranchers in Utah decided to belly up and tear their contracts up but I haven't found links to an actual story about it.

Rawstory filed a story of their own that is a pretty strange read...

At the end of the road was a mess hall outfitted with an upside-down American flag. Nearly a dozen militants were out back chatting, gathered around a small wood fire. A few feet away others dug through a box of mail, throwing items, mainly sex toys, into an oil drum fire. One held up a large white cardboard cutout of a cock and balls, saying of the flag and eagle drawing on it, “At least it’s patriotic,” before feeding it to the flames. Another militiaman walked by with a black butt plug adorned with googly eyes, saying, “I didn’t even know what this was before someone told me,” as he sacrificed it. We were handed a fake plastic turd as a memento.

The mood started to curdle. “Mama Bear,” one of at least a half-dozen women present, repeatedly warned she didn’t want any reporting “to put us in danger.” She specifically asked us not to mention the barrel of flaming dildos. It is unclear how knowledge of that would put them at risk for anything more than internet ridicule.
This is going to go down as one of the strangest militia events in our history. Bags of gummy dicks, weapons, dildos, a barrel of personal lubricant, flaming dildos, googly-eyed butt plugs, Mormonism, the Constitution, citizen grand jury, plastic turds, women, children, traveling religious singers from Kansas and on and on and on...

Religious Constitutional conservative zealots sure are strange.

Or it just means they have complete faith in God & Providence.

This kind of zealotry is a quasi religious cult experience similar to believing in the Donald.

I wonder if they got a county burn permit for that.

Tearing up a federal grazing lease is like cutting up an EBT card. Taxpayers across America should thank this rancher for getting off the dole. Maybe he'll find productive employment.

Other than pissing off the locals and that thing with the guy getting busted with the two stolen trucks, the militia has avoided running afoul of state or local laws. One reason the militia safety committee and that 'judge' may be interested in secrecy regarding their 'grand jury' is because at that point they run up against state law:

A person commits the crime of simulating legal process if, with the intent to harass, injure or defraud another person, the person knowingly issues or delivers to another person any document that in form and substance falsely simulates civil or criminal process.

It's a Class C felony in Oregon and punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment. Hey, it's a start!

I can't believe this is still going on. The president has the wherewithal to kill rogue Americans with drone strikes overseas but not here at home? Trump would have burned this place to the ground on day 1. This foolishness makes us look weak.

Do you work hard to be this stupid or does it come naturally to you? I'm betting naturally. A few points... First, what Trump would have done is pure projection on your part and second, it doesn't matter what Trump says because he's not going to be the one who settles this, is he? Third, Obama is letting the relevant agencies handle this rather than trying to micromanage it for political purposes.

Finally, you are stark raving mad. Seek professional help, for your own sake.

Give it time. In a few years or maybe decades your wish for the govt to kill citizens via drone strike on our soil will be granted.
