Other than pissing off the locals and that thing with the guy getting busted with the two stolen trucks, the militia has avoided running afoul of state or local laws.
I'm fairly certain that breaking and entering is against state and local laws.

On today's edition of Brokeback Refuge: Militia Men in Arms

Bundys escalating showdown with feds - as support dwindles and lone wolves come looking for trouble...

An excerpt...

When DeMoreta-Folch was asked on what legal basis he was using the Magna Carta if the Constitution was the supreme law of the land, he yelled, “The Magna Carta is the supreme law of the land! The Bible is the supreme law of the land!” When reporters asked him the names and numbers of grand jurors, Demoreta-Folch threatened to charge the reporters with felonies in his Star Chamber.
Speaking about those lone wolves that are looking for trouble...

WATCH - Loincloth-clad Oregon militant challenges Chris Christie to a sumo match in this bonkers video

He challenged the presidential candidate to “throw on a diaper” and “go to war over the Constitution.”
Yes, it's real. D:

Fortunately for Harney County another lone wolf on his way to join up with the Bundy millitia was intercepted by the Oregon State Patrol and charged with DWI. Clerks at a local Hines market heard the man say he was there to kill federal agents, so they called the police. The man was also packing what looked like a holstered pistol but it turned out to be a BB pistol. Of course he resisted arrest and issued death threats against the officers as he was being arrested but that's just what a patriot does!

In other crazy news in Oregon, insane Grant County Sheriff Palmer says that if the government wants to defuse the situation here in Oregon then they should release the Hammonds and the feds should leave the state. Not only that but he has also invited the Bundy Militia to move into his county and set up a Committee of Safety for his citizens! In response to that invitation, Sheriff Palmer has a new challenger in the next election! His challenger states:

“When I took my first oath of office as a reserve deputy on April 3, 2000, it was that I would support the Constitution and the laws of the United States and of the state of Oregon, and to honestly and faithfully perform the duties imposed upon the member under the laws of Oregon,” he said in the statement. “I do not remember that there were any clauses that told me this was optional, and up to my interpretation of the Constitution and laws.”
Word here in Oregon is that the LEO community is not happy with Palmer. Let's hope that carries over into 'his' county.

Palmer-

"There are no and never has been any public safety concerns that would indicate that these people put our community at risk or in jeopardy."

That's delusional. Armed insurrectionists are dangerous to the community simply by definition. They intend to impose the will of an extreme minority over the democratic rule of the vast, vast majority by threat of force of arms.

It's bad enough that a few fools can come together by the internet & totally appalling when it infests Law Enforcement.

I don't think they should be killing these people, but it is pretty striking how different these people are being treated than the stories we are hearing every day about black men being killed for so much less. It shows in pretty stark relief that those deaths are not necessary and that the police can do their job with out a shoot first policy.

A full grown drunk man threatened to kill the police, had what appeared to be a gun, and resisted arrest. Still taken in peacefully. But tell us again how you needed to shoot the 12 year old with a toy gun.

I don't

I thought about it. These aren't City Cops that deal with perpetual crap so I'm sure they're more patient and a little more gun shy which is a good thing

Weren't these clowns setting up road blocks near the Bundy ranch and asking who everyone was that passed through them?

"and the feds should leave the state."
Even if I thought that was a good idea, it should be up to the people... and their elected officials. They clearly don't want that. For anyone else to demand such terms is an attempt to undermine our democratic process. That is both threatening and offensive.

...in an open carry state no less.

I think anyone trying to pretend there isn't a double standard here needs a CAT scan.

I watched the video and while the guy was a complete idiot he didn't do anything to warrant the use of deadly force. He wasn't issuing death threats until he was already being (rather willfully) handcuffed.

The holstered BB-gun is a big WTF to me, I mean seriously?

I hope Fluffy Unicorn is OK!

Edit: I just realized Sheriff Palmer cozying up to the Bundy brigade right before this going down and happening on the way to an event he apparently invited is going to make him look like a real rat to a lot of these folks. :)

Word is that Pete Santelli had someone named Blaine on the phone (Blaine Cooper) and while Pete didn't say what Blaine said to him on the phone, he asked him to get the women and children out of the preserve and it seems Blaine said NO, to which Santelli said something to the effect of: 'That's crazy!'.

Sounds like Blaine wants to go out in a blaze of glory...

ETA: More outsiders join in... ;)

Well, the Bundy brigade made it clear that this wouldn't end without bloodshed. Hopefully they've had enough of it. Damned fools are lucky that they're not all dead.

I'm sure that the feds had 'em dialed in from the moment they left the refuge, sprung the trap at the time & place of their own choosing. Firepower at the scene was overwhelming, I'm sure.

Don't fuck with the FBI.

Initial report filed at Oregon Live:

BURNS – One militant is dead and the top leaders of the refuge occupation are in police custody after law enforcement officials stopped vehicles Tuesday afternoon about 15 miles north of Burns.
Ryan Bundy, 43, of Bunkerville, Nev., suffered a minor gunshot wound and was taken into custody in a highway stop conducted by the FBI and the Oregon State Police.
Also arrested were his brother, Ammon Bundy, 40, of Emmett, Idaho, and Ryan W. Payne, 32, of Anaconda, Mont., Brian Cavalier, and Shawna J. Cox, 59, of Kanab, Utah. They were charged with conspiracy to impede federal officers, a felony.
The identity of the person killed in the shootout was not released.
One dead, one wounded and four arrested (including the wounded). I'm glad to see that they got the head honchos of the operation. Talk about putting all of your eggs in one basket...lol!

I hope they were wearing some ribbon and a bow for their arrest because this was a gift to the FBI.

They also picked up another militia guy (the one who stole the fundraising money and drank it) in John Day, OR.

Sounds like no law enforcement were injured, which is a big plus.

ETA: His name is: Joseph Donald O'Shaughnessey

And...

Les Zaitz ‏@LesZaitz 14m14 minutes ago All charged with federal felony - conspiracy to impede a federal officer by force.
