It irks me that the state is essentially assuming its right to my body unless I state otherwise.
Instead of educating people on the process of organ donation and letting them make their own decisions, you're feeding on ignorance of the law. Hence, Opt out legislation is highly unpopular and does nothing to increase understanding or awareness.

If someone wants to be an organ donor, then by all means they should go out of their way to become one, not the other way around.

well, pretty much all homeless, unidentified, unclaimed bodies are already confiscated by the state and sent off to the Medical schools for Gross Anatomy and various other purposes.

I wonder if that was their choice?
:hmm:

When reading this it makes it seem that you wouldn't even give your own family the organs. That is just hilarious.

Its people like you that make me hope Karma is a reality. I can only hope your real life is as miserable as your attitude on these forums.

If it came down to donating a kidney, I might do it, since I could survive pretty well with one kidney. This would be in the case of a family.

I'd donate marrow if asked.

I would not sign up to be an organ donor, because I truly do NOT believe that a hospital would look past it's potential profit making vs. keeping a donor alive.

Humans are greedy people. :\

And yes, I live a hugely miserable life. One that is so miserable I could die off tomorrow and no one would give a damn. But when I go - you'd better believe that I'll be taking my organs with me.

The hospital doesn't sell the organ. Hell, the organ transplantation may not even occur in the hospital that you would be declared dead in.

Then it is out of ignorance, the attending doctor is the one who calls it and he would be charged with murder in the first degree if he would kill a patient for the organs, the great conspiracy theory about this is about as believable as the faked moon landing.

When it comes to "keeping you alive" you have to ask yourself if you believe that you'd be alive without your head because as soon as the cerebral cortex is gone you are gone, keeping you "alive" is easily done for some time after that, i'm talking decades but the fact is that you are as dead as if you were decapitated and you won't be needing your organs, ever.

I am an organ donor. I find absolutely zero legitimate reason against donation. There really is no argument not to, in my opinion. I've had a few transplants myself, and would love to give something back when I am no longer breathing.

🙂

Once dead, I will not really give a damn about much of anything ever again. I'd venture a guess that my corpse would be more valuable as spare parts than compost. 🙂

I don't know if it's just in the UKAF or in all of the UK but the default for me is organ donor, you have to register as a non organ donor if you don't want to be a donor.

they pull the plug on you quicker if you're a donor, and they dont try as hard in emergency situations. so NO!

Nope.

Just in case I ever resurrect three days later or something. I don't want my organs all gone when I come back to life.

Also, I am nihilist, so if I do die and don't give you my organs... there are no repercussions to it to me regardless. So, just in case I am Jesus... I am going to keep my organs until they are vaporized by the sun.
