I just saw the preview for it. I'm psyched to see how all the congress men who voted for the war squeame away when Moore suggestes they tell their kids to enlist, and when it is revealed that most of the as$holes who voted for the Patriot Act never even read it. I don't like Moore's style per se, but the people he interviews are some of the key players and I want to see what they have to say.

This poll could have been more helpful: i.e., I'm liberal and I'm going to see it, I'm liberal and I'm not vs. I'm conservative and I'm going to see it, I'm conservative and I'm going to not. And why is there Democrat AND liberal and then just Republican without conservative?

Moore's films have as much basis in reality as Peter Pan does.

Is that so?
Yes...it's been well documented how much of a twisting of the facts Bowling for Columbine is. Do some looking around...I'm sure you will find the info out there.
Not so. With one exception, corrected on the DVD, Moore got his facts right. His presentation is sometimes misleading, however. Through artful editing, Moore sometimes arranges material to create inaccurate impressions. This is the same technique Bush & Co. uses so often, e.g., to continually suggest a link between Iraq and 9/11.

In some ways it's unfortunate Moore resorts to such trickery, but his work wouldn't be as entertaining otherwise. When watching his work, one must recognize that Moore doesn't pretend to be objective. He is tyring to persuade the viewer. The information is real, the presentation sculpted to reinforce his message.

One of the most important factual documentaries about our current president is coming out and people actually have the nerve to say that they are intentionally not going to see it?

I think that everyone should see it, regardless of what you currently think about our president.

Although Michael Moore may be biased, he still uses facts to make his point.

If you specifically try not to see this, I really worry about your capacity to make democracy work in America.

What is the song they play at the end of that trailer?

Edit: "I'd love to change the world" by Ten Years After.

I plan on seeing it and will view it as pure entertainment. Not that I'm questioning the factuality of the movie, rather I don't need any help convincing myself that the administration sucks. Or that Congress passed the Patriot Act without reading it. Etc., etc.

Oh, I'm sure the rabid right will be hopping up and down with their alleged fact-checking results, all clucking incoherently about the alleged inconsistancies or whatever. The ongoing smear campaign is hilarious to watch, but as Cad would say, it didn't work for Bowling in Columbine and it won't work now.

:p

PS: There's already little "action groups" sponsored by the R's popping up ... censorship anyone?

This just about sums up my plans and my perspective.

Yes, I'll see that instead of a Disney release this summer!

Of course, it's ridiculous to compare Bush with Hitler.
Hitler had a mustache!

Well, that was completely moronic. Care to share any of your other blinding insights with us? Do you have any factual information to back up your slur, or should we all dismiss it as yet another knee-jerk attack from the Bush fan-boys?

like other posters said, Moore's persona is irritating enough that I likely woudn't make it through the movie.

[off topic]
Pretty off-topic, but a good alternative that's worth seeing: Control Room. Surprised nobody's posted on this yet. Relates to coverage of the war at Coalition HQ in Qatar. If you hate Al Jazeera, its worth confirming your opinion that the producer may be the devil (complete w/ ever-smouldering cigarette). Read the footnotes before you go, the US press representative (Rushing) was gagged from talking about the movie by the Pentagon:

whats the differance between a liberal and a democrat

Nick, I think you can more easily characterize politicians as primarily a liberal, a conservative, or anywhere in between. Some democrats like Zell Miller, or Sam Nunn are considered conservative democrats and will often vote more "conservatively" than liberal republicans like Olympia Snowe or Lincoln Chafee. I would have to consider Joe Lieberman somewhere in between. He's a defense hawk (pretty conservative), yet he tends to be a liberal on most social issues.

A libertarian is an odd breed in that they are so diverse. However, typically, they are strict constitutionalists, and side with liberals on issues like the drug war, and the war in Iraq. They tend to be conservative fiscally speaking, and generally believe in less government.

That reminds me of the story of a woman who was upset with a mirror-maker because she couldn't bear to see herself in his mirrors...

why woudl i want to waste my money seeing a movie made by that obese slandering cretin.

You need some new glasses. The The film is about Bush. He didn't make it and he's not that fat either.

Yeah. The cretin does star in it, though:

The most indelible is Bush's reaction to hearing on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, that the first plane had crashed into the World Trade Center.

Bush was reading to a grade-school class in Florida at that moment. Instead of jumping up and leaving, he instead sat in front of the class, with an unfortunate look of confusion, for nearly 11 minutes.

Moore obtained the footage from a teacher at the school who videotaped the morning program. There Bush sits, with no access to his advisers, while New York is being viciously attacked. I guarantee you that no one who sees this film forgets this episode.

Come on Perknose, I bet all that time he looked like he was just sitting, he was involved in an intense bout of strategery and came up with the entire Iraq war plan.
