I'm always up for donating my organ. Unfortunately, there haven't been too many female recipients of late.

If you donate your member you might actually get some!

Uh, that's what I meant...my "organ".

*facepalm*

I meant AFTER your dead.

*facepalm*

Some of you people have messed up perspectives. Someone who donates their organs is being gracious and generous--but that doesn't make someone who doesn't an asshole or a piece of shit.
That's like saying anyone that doesn't donate any money beyond what they require to live is a piece of shit. They could be using what they have to improve the lives of others, but don't because they're selfish.

No because money you dont donate you can still use to buy things you enjoy. But when you die your organs are of no benefit to you, your family or your friends. They'd literally be wasted if you're not an organ donor.

This would be like if you would rather throw something ito the trash than recycle it assuming the two bins are right next to each other.

Fact is, organ donations saves lives and not in a wishy washy ambiguous way. People dying of very real diseases can live much longer through organ donation. You refusing to donate makes you an asshole.

QFT.

Donate if you want to. Thank you as you could help several people.

Don't donate, no problem. I ask that you answer this question though. If you needed a transplant, would you accept it?

Yes of course. If someone is able to live longer, or have a better quality of life, from using one of my organs when I am no longer in need of them, well then they are welcome to them. Unless of course there is some sort of organ trading system in the afterlife where I can exchange my spleen for an MP3 player or something like that, then I may want to hold onto them.

I am interested in this as well. I'm sure most here who said no wouldn't have any problem accepting a donor organ, though. Kind of funny to me, but whatever.

To be serious though, I am a registered organ donor.

I also plan to donate blood soon (had to wait at least a year after returning from Turkey in order to be eligible).

This is my fear as well, although I'm not sure there's any way to prove or disprove it.

I'll agree that you think I'm a selfish asshole, and that I don't care that you think that.

I thought this was just an urban legend. I mean I'm sure it happens, but it can't be very common. I was messing around on Wiki and came by this, supposedly the first time somebody has ever been tried for it in the US.

Yes, it's not like I need them.

Also, I have heard stories about people not getting tickets because the cop sees that they are an organ donor.

Yup. They won't do me much good if I'm dead.

You'll find unethical doctors here and there. This sort of organ donor thing is just one manifestation of their latent behavior problems.
