If you're a relatively healthy person and you're religious faith doesn't prevent I can't imagine why you wouldn't be a donor.

For some reason I have a picture of St. Peter at the gates saying "All those who weren't an organ donor, take the next elevator down"

I am! But I don't know what they can do with my liver...it's not like it's salvageable :p

But my mom made me put it on when I was 18 because I bought my motorcycle then. why not help out someone less fortunate than you, you're dead! Wth does it matter if you still have your heart!? It's not like you're using it.

I'm not religious, I'm just a selfish prick.

No, simply because I've heard the horror stories about some hospitals and/or clinics that will not make as much of an effort to save you if they can harvest organs from your body.

No, I'm not. I had a friend who got into a bad car accident some years ago. He was on life support for a little over a week before they had to pull the plug on him. One thing that I specifically remember was the doctor's pressuring the parents to sign forms so that they could take his organs. I just remember feeling like they were more concerned with his organs, like he was a broken car at a junk yard, than saving his life.

I am . I figure if I get mushed in a car wreck, I won't be needing my spleen so much any more.

I use to be a donor but not anymore. In California prisoners, some of which will never be free again, get organ transplants and I find that unacceptable. Until I am able to specify that my organs will not go to a prisoner I will not be a donor.

that's just absolutely amazing. I guess the innocent, decent person who has never been arrested or harmed anyone in their life should just die because you are afraid a prisoner might get your organ.

That's a pretty stupid thing to say. I mean, I don't really care if you think I'm an asshole, but it's still a stupid thing to say.

Sure, you can put it on your license, but you're not a donor unless you've told your family that you're a donor - they make the ultimate decision.

I am. I won't need them when I'm dead, so if somebody can get some use of out them, more power to them.
