racism

1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

Libertyordeath,

prejudice based on race is still racism.

<< . Of course, in america today, Racism is defines as disagreeing with a minority >>

IMO there is just more education now and the issue is dealt with more integrity now than say 50 years ago, or even 20 years ago.

Even saying "Black people are better athletes." IS a racist statement.

Hmmm there might be some truth to that. Why it is I don't know.
Blacks along with Hispanics dominate baseball.
Blacks completey dominate basketball, track, and boxing.
We are the most dominate in football. Tiger Woods is only "half" black and he rules golf :). The only sports in which blacks don't domniate is the sports they don't particapate in.

Its hard not see things in "color". Because we live in a color dominated world. TV has influenced us more than anything. Just like the guy made those statements about gangsta looking blacks, I could say the same things about truck driving, confederate flag flying white boys as all of them being racists. The fight is really to get over the stereo types that have been built in all of us through time. And we're all guilty to some degree.

Racism is everywhere. Hate is not. I think there is a line between the two. Not all racists hate and not all people who hate are racist. Racism, however, CAN lead to hate and it often does. I know I'm racist, but I try to see the best in people, and when I can, racism is a non-issue. Here is a lousy example: I am racist against the Dutch Power Cows because I'm a member of Team Anandtech because I feel that we are the best and that the DPC is suck. I however, do not hate the Dutch Power Cows because I'm not a member of that team. They provide for good, clean competition. There are very few people in this world I hate, however I may start with a prejudice against other groups of people. It is natural to believe the group you are a part of is the best when you don't know what that other group offers. The problem begins when you hate that other group for being better instead of working on your faults and trying to improve upon them.

Thats MHO.

I'm selectively racist against Hussein.

About the most racist I get is when I see an African-American with a menacing facial expression, and I think, 'Damn, he looks evil!' :)

Then again, I am more likely to get angry at an African-American than a Caucasian, European, or Asian for having an attitude, or doing despicable actions. I don't like it, but I admit that. :(

classy, and the same assumptions could be drawn about white/caucasion.

The best chess players in the world are white. The highest IQ's recorded in the world are from white people.

I think that it may be more of ones lifestyle than anything. Many hispanics and blacks live in an urban environment where basketball maybe the sport of choice to play after school, on the weekends ect. If one grows up playing basketball very competatively their entire life, of course they are going to be better. It's not that they are inherently better, it's just that it has been a way of life.

Same can be said for white people and tennis, chess, golf ect. It's not that they are inherently better, its just that they had more access to it and therefore could practice more often.
