It is sad that people actually think like this. US is screwed.

This ignores that GOP controlled congress just increased NASA funding...

Yeh, I remember when techno-righties got all extra goofy when Dubya said we wuz goin' to Mars! It turned 'em into 12 year old Sci-fi geeks all over again.

If you'd care to contradict any of what I offered, please do so.
We'd both be using our subjective opinions, but I don't think Hillary is going to be able to lead a "working government" to get things done to provide better lives for everybody.

Didn't Hillary say something recently about the GOP being the biggest enemy we face?

I personally think you're dreaming if she, or anybody else, can achieve this.

I see her as working in that direction following the ethos of the Democratic Party.

Dunno that she said that, but it's hard to argue given Repub obstructionism from 2008 forward. It's actually worse than that with Repubs trying to tear down the govt in general, not run it. It still works, even if they've tried to cripple it in service to the financial elite. They're the only possible beneficiaries of the power vacuum Repubs seek. Grover Norquist & friends have been working in that direction for a long time.

The housing bubble was the result of such a power vacuum where govt stepped out of the way of the wolves of Wall St.

The fact that the government has so much power is a recipe for rampant corruption.

Anyway, cheers.

Yeh, the people who have the power to corrupt the govt would rather convince us to tear it down so that we might better experience the full glory of free market international capitalism.

Which is to say right up the ass.

Reduced to the simple bluster of derision, I see.

It's not ridicule. You are merely mistaken. Obama wasn't the least bit interested in passing the things you wanted. He wasn't being obstructed, he just didn't want change.

She's been slimed more or less continuously since 1992 & she's still standing. She's uniquely qualified, having served as First Lady, Senator & SoS. If anybody knows how to get things done in Washington, it's her.

That's what we want, isn't it? A working government? Progress towards making it work better in changing times? Better lives for all of us & our descendants?

Fools seem to lose track of that thru this "Trust" bullshit. It doesn't change their minds- it changes their attitudes. Repubs current attack is based on the notion that they've spread so much bullshit that some of it must not be bullshit because there couldn't be that much bullshit.

Well said. The Obama Admin reversed the trajectory of the worst economic crisis since 1929. They've done a lot of good things & preserved even more in the face of pure spite from Repubs. Hillary won't be giving away any of it.

+1

I also agree she has a good shot at getting a number of things done given her experience and the Clinton skill at advancing it's agenda and beating the GOP at the political game.

She will have to find some mushy middle to do it, but on balance she is the most likely to get the most done given the options this year.

I'd still rather have a 3rd Obama term, but she's likeable enough.

1. She couldn't get Bill done.....he had to go somewhere else.

2. She won't be able to work with congress, because congress has Republicans in it, whom she said are her biggest enemy. She's just not gonna play well with others.

So, what is she gonna get done and how?

You're going to have to explain that one. Use specific examples if possible, please.

directly? no, I am not, I am backing Bernie, but if Hillary wins out in the primaries, she will get my vote just to ensure at least one vote goes against whatever passes for human from the gop side.

I'm sure by now you guys realize that the Republicans in congress will not work with ANY Democratic president. Any. Who it is is irrelevant as Republicans have no electoral incentive to compromise. (They fear primary challenges more than general election losses)

Clinton will win no matter how Sanders performs in the primaries. The main stream Democrats and the limousine liberals (i.e. big money, including the evil money bank people) are all backing Clinton. The fix is in. While she will probably win it in the primaries, she'll certainly get almost all of the super delegate votes. Sanders is making it interesting, but he can't create any of the backroom deals like Obama. This old saying is true today, as it was a hundred years ago. "In the Halls of Justice, the only justice is in the halls."

I was watching Meet The Press for a few minutes this weekend. Chuck Todd asked Sanders twice about why no Democratic Senator or Governor is openly supporting him. Sanders answered in round about ways to not answer the question. That hit home. It means, Clinton has already won the nomination.

Here's the problem with Sanders. He was elected in 2006, meaning he was in the Senate when Obamacare was passed. But why isn't Obamacare Medicare for all, or doesn't even have a public option? Sanders was not even able to sway the Senate Democrats to his way of thinking, so he has no chance of getting his policies passed.
