Just for fun I make almost ridiculous offers on some items and have been taken up on them a few times for slightly more. I go after the adds that have been up for at least two weeks or more. It is fun. Yes, I know it pisses people off to get lowball offers, and if people say, "no lowball offers in the add", I dont bother because they usually write back all mad. :'(

I have been lowballed so I figure its part of the the game. I had a boys bike listed for $85. The guy offered $25 so I said fine. He shows up and then offers $20. I laugh and say, "You want me to help you load it too?!" I took the $20.

Todays offer:

2009 Mercedes SL550 - $89500

Me: Ill give you $66k for it. Deal or no deal?

Them: No thanks.

How about you? And what deals have you scored?

I'll give you absolutely nothing to never make a post like this again. Deal or no deal?

I got a modded Xbox 360 for $100. This was when they were selling for ~$200 and well before MS banned them. I also scored a really nice 20" TV for the boy's room.

I <3 Craigslist

I only get those when I post stuff. I have one lady who still calls me because she wanted to buy my cigarette rolling machine. She wanted me to drive 50 miles to sell it to her for $10. I told her maybe if I was ever in the area....

So she calls me to see when I am coming.

I scored an entire set of saladmaster cookware in denver for $100.00 When I arrived to pick it up the guy asked me if I was interested in any other "collectable items" When he showed me what he had, and gave me prices, I rented a semi-truck/trailer and filled it up.

How about you just post realistic price? You'll probably get a lot more offers that way.

In fact, instead of listing the bike at $85, list it at $35. You may very well had full price offers at $35 and made some extra money.

I always offer about 20% less than what the item is listed for. My best score was a Bosch stainless range/convection oven. 1 year old MSPR ~$1400, I got it for $700

I <3 Craigslist.

I only seriously lowball people who try to sell absolute crap, ask for a stupid high price, and then say no lowballers. I offer them 10% of what they asked, tell them they are lucky to even get an offer, and tell them to get back to me ASAP or I'm not interested. Depending on how stupid their post is, I sometimes threaten to flag their post to death too if they don't sell to me at my lowball offer.

When people do this to me, I agree to sell and then bring them into the basement to "show the item".

They make a lot of noise. I feed them sometimes.

Ill offer 50% of the asking price and go from there. Some people get excited, other negotiate a higher price, other accept the offer.
It has worked fairly well for me so far.

I honestly don't care about lowballers. The ones who piss me off are the people who get really mean or pushy after you decline their lowball offer. It's at that point in time when I stop being polite and just tell them to fuck off.

Yeah, theres no point in that. A no is a no, period, in my book. Afterall you might meet this guy in person! And you sure dont want him pissed off before you even get there.

I just started using Craigslist a few weeks ago for deals, I saw an ad for a Radeon 5870 for $275. I figured the guy probably wouldn't go much lower so I called and offered $250 and he accepted it right away. I was like fuck, I should have offered $200. I was thinking about calling him back up and coming up with some BS like "Hey, I know I already offered you $250 and you accepted, but I just realized I will need a new power supply to handle this video card, so I can't pay $250 for it, would you accept $200 for it?" But I felt like I already offered him $250 and he accepted so I didn't want to go back on the deal. I paid the $250 which is already one hell of a deal for a Radeon 5870.

Then the other day, thinking I learned my lesson, I see a XFX Radeon 4890 for $130, I called the person up and offered $80 thinking that was pretty low and he would probably try to barter and go higher. But nope, he accepted it right away. So I was like fuck....lol....I should have went lower.

For now on when I see deals, I'm going to go real lowwwwwwwwww.

Thats why you show up with less money than you offered. Show up with 60, say you only got 60 and ask if he wants the money or not.

What pisses me off is the people that email you that they want to buy it and ask some retarded questions that they're too dumb to look up themselves or are clearly explained in the ad. Then after all that, they put out the lowball offer.

Real classy.
