1. Agree on $50
2. Show up with all $20 bills
3. Ask if he has $10 change.
4. Agree on $40 when he fails to have change.
5. Win.

In all seriousness, this happened to me once. I hit the ATM on the way to meeting the guy and when he didn't have change, I asked if I could give him $10 less since I didn't have exact change. I even said I'd paypal him the difference and he declined. I still felt shmucky though.

Nope, but if you don't want to go get change for that $20, I'll be glad to take $60. You're the dumbass that didn't have the foresight to bring the right amount of money, YOU can lose money if you're too lazy to get change.

I'm very, very stubborn. I'd rather not sell the item and lose money, than to give it to you for a better price.

I sometimes accept lowball offers when I just don't want the hassle of selling something anymore.

However, I am absolutely adament that when an offer is accepted that it will not be renegotiated. We already agreed on a price and I will not sell it to you for a penny less.

I usually don't respond to lowballers ... though the douches in this thread make me think that I should agree to meet them somewhere ridiculous and then not show up.

Thats why you show up with less money than you offered. Show up with 60, say you only got 60 and ask if he wants the money or not.

I'd be pissed and wouldn't sell it to you purely on principle, even if I would be willing to take that same amount from someone who offered it up front.

Nope - but I know someone who buys/sells on Craigslist on a daily basis and he probably low balls on everything [they manage to get a lot of free stuff which is actually pretty damn nice too].

/shrug - if you can get it for a low price [and want to resell it at a higher price] - kudos to you!
