Seeing the replies in this and other threads i'm feeling better and better about a President Trump administration all the time. I'm also happy with the alacrity that he's carrying out his nominations. He's doing a far better job so far than i had expected.

I personally enjoyed all the Hitler comparisons.

I can't say I "enjoy" them.

Generally, the simple-minded and lazy like to resort to historical analogy. For instance, we're all familiar with the "Neville Chamberlain" appeasement comparison. It is not a solid way to build an argument, despite the fact that historians, objective journalists, most certainly advocacy journalists, and your run-of-the-mill chuckleheads do it.

However, there is a basis for comparison between personal psychologies. All you need to do is compare sentiments, behavior, speeches and statements.

That being said, there was a dramatic play published by the Swiss playwright Max Frisch in 1953 -- "Biedermann und die Brandstifter." Loosely translated, it is "Biedermann and the Arsonists."

A nice middle-aged German couple in their comfortable home are visited by two grubby arsonists. They sweet-talk their way into the couple's hospitality, partake of dinner, continuing the conversation as they bring gasoline, incendiary devices, fuses and timers into the dwelling -- and the Biedermanns seem to remain clueless as to what is happening.

By the time the arsonists leave, the house is in flames, and the Biedermanns are still trying to figure it out.

Generally every literate German speaker knows what this play is about --- except perhaps some of their own Alt-Right who might have a steady diet of comic-books and their own propaganda. You know -- maybe "D**k and Jane Take Their Country Back." [I can't believe this automated PC editing of perfectly innocent first names.]

I could wonder if we wait long enough, how many folks such as yourself will be asking "Where is Klaus von Stauffenburg when you need him?" Wo ist von Stauffenburg wenn Sie ihn brauchen?

Yes, most americans, including the GOP, didn't want to believe the sheer level of racial resentment revealed by every empirical study on the matter. The GOP ran candidate after candidate who had too much dignity to call mexicans rapists or go full birther or let the alt-right run their campaign, until Trump showed them how it's done.
Feel free to link those "empirical" studies.

I've noted on numerous occasion that Trump was smart to see the country for what it really was, and bold for doing what needs to be done to win. Too bad so many liberals are too cuckish to deal with these sort of people.
"The country?" You make a lot of general statements with absolutely no backup.

The fact I don't look down at black people dealt a shit deck in life and you ostensibly believe anyone should is a fitting example of the above.
I said nothing about black people. In fact, inner city people comprise quite a number of ethnicities. Good job on making ASSumptions.

Then again, if it's white people you don't hesitate to toss dagger after dagger, which makes you a racist idjit in your own right. And let's not pretend that you can't be a racist when you look down on white people. You are, plain and simple. Nor do I care if you're white. You're still a racist tool.

what makes you feel good about a trump presidency? that he makes "the other people" mad?

do you not have concern over the environment, labor regulations, internet regulations, or anything else of matter to national policy, infrastructure, and technological development within the united states?

While I don't agree with Agent00f's take, Trump's appeal to racial animus is obvious. Make no mistake or excuse, that's been a big part of his appeal.

He went well beyond the usual dog whistling & we both know it. It was a huge hit with his target audience.

I don't feel good about a Trump presidency whatsoever. I am glad it has made the opposition mad as hell though. It's what they deserve for the faux pas of running Hillary as a candidate and maybe, just maybe, it will motivate them to do better next election.

People tend to give the president way too much credit for the ability to change policy. What Congress will do is a far bigger question. Trump is pretty inconsequential in most of those matters.

From what I recall his rant was against illegals, not minorities. Then again, I didn't pay all that much attention to him because I think he sucks, just like Hillary sucked. They both sucked, even if Hillary sucked less.

Maybe I need to remind you that I am not a Trump supporter? I am telling you what a mistake Hillary was.

Don't confuse the two.

Pretty obvious providing clear evidence/facts will make no difference to people who can't understand it and don't really care anyway.

It's rather unimpeachable who gets the bulk of gubmint welfare yet have gall to point to this and that minority. People of sound ethical standing all look down on that behavior.

He rants against people of lowest social standing because it provides safest political return on investment. Because you see, indigenous looking mexican and muslim aren't "races".

Who gets the bulk per capita?

Don't use "Hillary sucks!" as a way to justify Trump's apparent victory. He tapped into the dark side of too many people in a way that impaired their cognitive functions. He took it to a different level, one where they wanted to go.

Have you noticed the reveling in the "deplorables" label? They know how they feel. Like it or not, it is what it is.

Holy fuck. You just don't get it. I'm not here to justify Trump's victory. I'm telling YOU and everyone of your ilk to accept the fact that Trump didn't win, YOU lost. YOU dumbasses fucked this country with your arrogance and pointy-headed belligerence. Let this be a lesson. Now regroup and try to regain some control, because your party made some seriously bad decisions. Stop trying to blame everyone else when it's your own fault. Own it, accept it, and move on.

I guess they learned to be less racist in a few short months through the alt-right recruitment of their leader. Until of course the next such study which I'm sure you'll similarly predictably ignore just like this one and the one before that and so past segregation and slavery; it's just what your sort do.

Apparently it makes a difference to those trying to foist bullshit on people.
Evidently facts make zero difference to people who actively ignore them.

You're an idiot.

The red areas which get the bulk of defense spending which makes half the federal budget do. Of course that was several months ago and beyond so entirely invalid.

Of course it's the democrats fault for not realizing just how blatant racist much of the country is, and the sheer will of others to ignore it for their own reasons. In all fairness it's understandable embarrassing to admit so many want to keep minorities & such down so they can keep a bigger piece of the pie; that would make them look selfish and self-interested.

Agent is completely delusional.

Worth noting again buckshot types love the low-info "independent" who're so easily played by "both sides" agitprop along with "it's not racist if it's somehow the libtards fault" and "low status mexicans are rapists".

Credit where it's due they're quite good at what they do.

He's a racist moron who is oblivious to the fact that people just like him lost Hillary the election. He'll never "get" it because that's the drowning anchor of oblivious idiots. He (or she) is so drunk on spewing anti-trump rhetorical talking points that they can't see straight. Don't ask them to go off-script though. They are lost.

This thread will probably get locked soon but until then I think Trump is a reflex action to having a liberal zealot in the White House and the naysayers are being proven wrong every day. Better than having a dishonest deceitful politician in the Oval Office and I hope Trump comes through and locks her up!

Quite the contrary. Trump & the Repubs ran a brilliant slime fest of a campaign unmatched in modern history. It was masterful. His voters didn't excuse his flaws. They embraced his message. It's what they wanted to hear for a very long time. It's how they feel about the rest of America & the world.

Bill Clinton once remarked that when people are thinking that it's good for Democrats. He's right, of course, but this election had very little to do with people thinking & everything to do with feelings & with the culture war.
