Check out the sales on desktop PC now on Costco and a couple of them are pretty good discounts on them 30-40%! Pretty appealing especially if you need to buy a desktop for anything including gaming!

You know, it's funny

But if someone tried to bring GRIDcoin back, now would be the time to do it.

The ONLY thing that GUARANTEES prices going up is demand. We cant control what mountains of fools are willing to pay for what should be a reasonable priced product. But one thing is guaranteed on my watch is that I REFUSE to pay more than a reasonable price, especially for a used card. You can let the miners keep you ginned up or you can make them take the loss for holding out too long. Its all on the buyer right now. BEAR MARKET is the rule of the day... IMHO

You know, I am wondering if the 4080s high prices (well, higher prices than what I expected) is because nVidia is betting on crypto being back within lets say 6 months.

He was saying that the 4000-series announcement is actually driving up demand and prices for the 3000 series.

Checked eBay and there's 3 3080 Tis nearing the end of the auction. The first one sold for ~$800 including shipping. Second one sold for ~$780.

The 4080 12 GB is going to be better (maybe not by much... but better) plus it's new and not been sent to the mines.

It is kinda weird that even with this severe Bear market, where miners aren't even breaking even, but mostly losing money, the GPU prices haven't, in most cases, even returned to Nov. 2020 price levels. (Start of last Bull run.)

I am seeing some great deals on r/hardwareswap too. Even tech forums like ours' have had some attractive deals lately.

As the 3rd stage guild navigator said - I see plans within plans. The miners are trying to gaslight us. I suspect the reason we don't see more cards flooding the market yet, was correctly pointed out by another member here. They are still working through the Kubler-Ross stages of grief. Reality can be a harsh mistress.

Damn..I was hoping to sell my 3080ti for higher. Hell last year when EVGA queue finally kicked in for me I was able to sell my 1080ti strix oc card for the same price I had originally purchased 5-6 years ago.

That 4080 12gb is a joke, it should have been priced at $700 to start. We all know the prices won't be what they stated in the presentation.

If current prices are too high...you can always buy a "lightly used" card...

- Yes, buy used and insist on a "proper" price. I'm lucky in that I really enjoy the hunt when it comes to GPU pricing, so I don't mind sticking with something like eBay for 2-3 months until I get what I want for a price I'm happy with. Nothing will make a $1000 card $333 like having it go through three owners. 9/10 times you'll end up with something more reliable than a new out of the box part as well (thanks to someone else basically doing QC on it). The best warranty is always the one you never have to use.

Or they are waiting to see if (when) the Money Printer will be turned back on.

- Yup. RIght now we're in a game of chicken between miners and the Fed. Miners are banking on the Fed botching their "soft landing" and driving us into a hard recession which means panicked interest rate reductions and more cheap money. Frustratingly for the miners, unemployment is still low and the economy is still chugging (albeit with some BS inflation). Going to get harder and harder for miners to justify sitting on their hardware when things don't go south as quickly as they hoped.

Honestly, we have had a picnic for way too long. Low, almost no interest only gained us higher prices in the end. Comes a time when banks need to start paying interest into peoples savings accounts for a change, like once upon a time. Mortgages arent even normal if they arent at least 5 percent. The sellers market of the past few years was solely due to near zero interest. Sellers were the winners, buyers are going to be taking it in the backside for years to come.

- Not to make this all ATPN but I get some stitches when older people complain about lazy yoots not earning their keep and I bring up how much of their wealth is directly the result of them buying things (property) back in a high interest rate low cash environment and the fed basically creating wealth out of thin air for them with low interest rates over the last 40 years (combined with a host of other economic factors like offshoring and a very lax immigration policy to hide our inherent labor shortage and suppress wage growth).

We're in for a solid 5-10 years of suck here as the fed recharges its interest rate game, quickly at first and more slowly over time, before the money printer goes brrr and we do another pump and dump on the economy/wages/everything.

Neither, all good things do eventually come to an end.Unfortunately I'm not sure the same can be said about these gpu prices. I consider myself lucky to have upgraded because i was getting worried that 1080ti would have died on me during the GPU scarcity timeframe.
