There may be a good deal on a slightly used 3090 Ti from a certain individual on here once he gets a 4090.

Do you post your items here or somewhere else? I like FS/FT here but tend to use ebay because stuff sells quickly there, even though they take a big cut.

If you are willing to let it go for the $300 price range send me a PM. I currently need to replace 3 GPUs in various computers in my household :p

People want to get something for nothing crowd - going for crypto mining used graphics card will probably get nothing.

I normally post them for sale on a forum beginning with the letter H and rhymes with lard.

From the horses mouth himself:

“Moore’s Law is dead. […] A 12-inch wafer is a lot more expensive today. The idea that the chip is going to go down in price is a story of the past,” said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in a response to PC World’s Gordon Ung.

Who cares about the chip, that's Nvidia's concern, it's the card that matters to us.

Precisely. Ain't our fault Nvidia haven't done their homework on chiplet tech and are still using monolithic solutions for everything. Meanwhile, AMD has been trying to find ways to use the cutting edge node as sparingly and as economically as possible.

LOL Suuuuuure.... GPU itself is only a small part of the whole package, even if chip itself is 50% more expensive that should not translate into card itself being 50% more expensive.

In other news, checking local facebook marketplace there are about 20 for sale listings for mining rigs. One is trying to sell 6x3090 rig that he claims he bought only 6 months ago. If true, that was one hell of a mistake for the dude. Prices WILL be coming down, and JH is just going to have to deal with it.

Lot of fools out there. I saw someone buy a few high-end gaming PCs at a huge discount from someone who intended to use them for mining, but never even got around to it.

The FOMO is real. Lots of uninformed would-be miners with dreams of get-rich-quick. Only, it's not like that at all.

Jokes on them, they did miss out. BTC mining was like a decade ago, Eth was really a thing some years ago (if you hodl of course). All the calculators go out the window when your stash goes value goes up 10-1000x in value.

Oh well... I think I am OK with the 6800. We'll see if I can resist the next gen stuff for a full cycle. Based on the games I play it shouldn't be too hard.

I'd like to see prices around what they were for Kepler, Maxwell, and Pascal.

I hate how people think Pascal was reasonably priced. The GTX 1080 when it first came out people complained of taking what was supposed to be a 1070 and changing the name to justify the price increase. And this was right before the mining boom.

I can see why the frog in the pot argument is very applicable. They dialed the temperature up so much, that when they drop it, people think it's amazing value.

What I don't understand is why spend expensive transistors on cache and reduce the memory bus width on all but the biggest cards. Reducing memory bus is normally about reducing the board cost (less pins). If the chip is expensive then surely it's cheaper to have a more expensive board with a wider memory bus and less cache?

The alternative explanation that makes a lot more sense is that a 300 mm2 AD104 is not all that expensive and the fake 4080 has enormous profit margins.

Just say no and change to a cheaper hobby like yachting or burning dollar bills :p

Or just commit to playing the backlog of games that you never got around to.
Or all those fantastic pixel art games.

My 1070ti will play Witcher 3 at 1080p@60 ultra settings with out a problem, and I never got around to that game. Same with Bioshock infinite. And yet recently I have sunk all my free gaming time playing Keplerth and Darkness Falls mod for 7 days to Die with my friends, both of which I could play with a potato attached to a tin can on a string.
Although, I admit I was hoping to play Cyberpunk 2077 at 4k ray traced in all it's glory. Oh, well, that just means that when I do buy it it will include all the DLC and the community will have fixed all the bugs for around $10 by the time I get to buy a cheap 4070 to play it. Bargain gamer for the win.

with dreams of get-rich-quick.

That goes on everywhere. Not just with mining.

...and as usual the guy who gets rich, is the one who provides the shovels...

Dang. Got figured out... ;)

Seriously though that's more-or-less how I've done these past 30-odd years PC gaming. Wait until games are fully patched, all expansions/DLCs have been released and enjoy. Cuts down on hardware requirements too.

6800 or 6900 is likely what I'll be getting. If Nvidia is going to keep playing games with stock and prices, they aren't getting my money.

I have a price in mind...if the 6900 is close to that in the next couple of months I'll grab one. Otherwise it'll be a 6800 for me.

True, plus Nvidia jacked the price of the 70 series up from $330 to $450 with Pascal despite the 1070 being quite a bit more cut down vs the 1080 than the 970 was vs 980.

I just check my NVidia RTX 3060 TI Founders Edition card on Eb*y and most if not all the sellers list it at least $100 more then the MSRP! None of them are authorized by NVidia to sell it! LOL! They have current component in them too! Intel 12 series CPUs and DDR5!
