My hope is that prices get so low I can pick up both an NV and AMD card, run both simultaneously, and then head to the forums to complain about both without having to lie about owning either.

My 6700XT/3070 system... And I'll toss a 5700 with an x570 chipset in there for good measure.

Luckiest system ever.

Oh you mean what i do in this setup here?

But its a 3070Ti + 6600XT system.
Because you know only stupid gamers would get 6700XT and not a 6600XT.

Serious Note:
That is a GPU Validation Setup.
Yes its a mining setup, however i use it to stress test new GPU's to make sure they validate before i send them off, or keep them in other systems.
I was validating a 3070Ti + 6600xt for 2 separate GAMING PC's and doing a little bit of mining while at it.
The plastic on the 3070ti is still on.... lol...

Ethereum down to under $940. That's getting to a level where even 15c/kwh it's starting to get close to unprofitable for something like a 1650 Super.

i don't think you can even mine eth on a 1650 super...
Hashimoto requires a 6GB card min.....

Pretty soon we might see $400 ETH or less! Then you will be buying cheap video cards, while I'll be buying cheap ETH . . .

Maybe, but I think eth will keep dropping to the $200ish mark.

At that point I will start asking myself if it is time to speculate. Eth after all has a future with PoS if it can survive this. Which I am hoping it will not, seeing PoW crash will scare everyone to PoS, which would be for the best.

You also need a 9800GT for the physx man. Come on.

Guys if your a gamer getting 2nd hand cards remember LHR is your friend...
LHR means the card was not able to run at full clock, or the LHR would kick in for ETH mining.
So they usually ran the card anywhere from 60-70%.

So in serious, all you need to do is pop the LHR and run furmark for 15 min as if the card has problems it will be on the memory side, and memory side artifacting happens right away.

Honestly, mining for 2 years shouldn't kill a card. My experience with electronics is they die in a month (or right out of the box) or they never die, with some rare exceptions.

We've had people running distributed computing on their cards for years (Folding etc), people that power their card up and down regularly (wear and tear from starts and stops), etc for ages, people that leave their computer on 100% of the time etc.

My bigger worry with this gen is that since many cards were manufactured during the pandemic with supply issues and manufacturers likely subbing substandard components to meet orders, people will get more NIB duds, or cards that would have worked for 20 years will now only work for 10-12 years.

I'm sure you already know this but

If you are getting a used card, be ready to replace the fans. Or just put it under water.
