are the riots in london enough reason for you to own a firearm?

well it wouldn't get as bad as london because there are some guns around, so the threshold for stuff tends to be higher, the thug takes a chance. london..total impunity, they know they own the night, law of the jungle, all their victims are disarmed.

In an anarchy situation, it is unlikely large groups will be targeting homes. Buisnesses maybe but not homes. If you have to protect your home, and family it will more likely be small bands and any show of force, even a handgun, will most likely encourage them to look elsewhere.

Except that zombies do not know fear or have much intelligence. If there is a mod after you and you explode the guts of 2 members with a few shotgun blasts, the rest of the people probably will go look somewhere else if they don't want to be next. Most individuals will not die for the good of the group. They are going to think "ya, he can't get all of us...but am I willing to be the 1 he does get?"

So ya, I got 2 @ 12ga shotguns, 1 Swedish Mauser rifle, 1 @ .22 rifle. I'd like to get a .40 or .45 if California didn't make it such a pain. I will likely get one in a year or so though. In the meantime my 20" 12 ga Mossberg can protect me.
 
If a riot were to occur I would hopefully be able to group up with level minded individuals to help protect each other from the chaos.

You vs RIOT = goodluck
Group vs RIOT = better then flying solo.

no granny with a sword is still granny, however granny with a shotgun can keep a crowd at bay. no other weapon has that kind of equalizing effect. in london they've disarmed them all so thoroughly the thugs know physical strength is all that matters.

It's not wise to hope for the best without preparing for the worst. Those things I mentioned WILL be cut, just what do you think is going to happen? Hell, we've had college kids just about riot because their freaking FOOD STAMPs were being cut back.

That's why you need an assault rifle. 1 shot, many kills.

what about the LA riots? there's plenty of guns in LA but shit was more messed up than London...
 
Has anyone noticed that when riots start, the rioters seem to just destroy businesses and such in their own neighborhoods?

Saw that with the riots in our smallish town back in the late 1960's and the riots in east LA more recently and the current riots in Britain. Same pattern plays out over and over....and I've never understood that.

Yeah, I doubt that.

Those idiots were doing it and continuing to do it because they didn't fear anything. Once someone drops a couple of them they will get scared and run away.
