Are most of you work normal 40 hours a week here?

I work a few months a year, precisely 3-4 months as a consultant. the rest of the time, I just go off to some 3rd world countries.

last 2 months were very busy, I probably worked 60 hours+ a week and 6-7 days a week. I should get out of work by the end of this month. with 3 more weeks remaining, I was told not to work too much so only doing 40 hours a week.

now i am doing 10-6 (suppose to be 9-5, but i told my manager i really prefer to get off at 6 and then off to the gym when there will be less people).

it is just so boring working normal hours.

9-5 is easy. I was doing 6am to 8pm for a few weeks in January and February. Coming from that, normal working hours are a breeze.

My weekly hours are somewhat irregular. My day runs at a minimum from 0730 to 1730, but I often have late nights where I don't finish until 2000 or 2100.

Today I clocked in at 0600 and clocked out at 2200.

Generally my weekly hours total between 50 and 65. I get OT after 40, though. ~30 hrs of OT every paycheck is pretty nice, but anything more than that and I'm usually wishing I could have more of my personal life back.

8p-6a mon, tue, thurs, fri. 🙁
plus sometimes 7a-5p on thurs also.
plus 6-10hrs a week whenever I can get to my other job to score studies and do reports sleep studies. 🙁

I need to cut this crap out.

I will die before I'm 40, I just know it. I sleep 6 hours a night, the rest of the time, I'm at work, 7 days a week. I've been doing this for the past 2 years straight.

i work 10pm-8am. m-f one week, then tu-thu the following week. I'll pick up an extra day or two if I feel like it and I don't have plans.

12-16 hour shifts (average) for 35-56 days straight, followed by 14-21 days off straight. Repeat. Won't be able to do it forever though.

that's crazy. I did that for a little while in college working two jobs, I would literally sit down on the couch after work and fall asleep within 10 seconds

I do 12:00 pm to 10:30 pm, 4 days a week and also when someone is out I cover for them.

Now college on the other hand, I'm not sure how I made it though that without dying, I worked overnights at Walmart, and would go to college in the morning after getting off of work.

I dont think Ive worked a 40 in the last 6 months 🙁 Im lucky to get under 50 a week right now and Im looking at the possibility of 70s in a few months. I havent had a saturday off except holidays since thanksgiving.

Last night I worked til 2am, and my ex-boss (I transferred teams) called me at 5:30am this morning. From there I went to a client site, then worked in the airport, worked on the plane, came home and worked and now am taking 15 mins to nef before bed.

So... no.

at what point are we as a society going to say enough is enough? it sounds like everybody just works long hours in addition to the expectation that we are to be connected 24/7.

In my case, I decided I was willing to do the insane corporate life for about ten years to achieve other goals, and it's been hard but worth it. I have no intention of working til 60 or 65 - I'm putting in my time all upfront, getting compensated for it appropriately, and then I'm calling it quits.

0 hour work weeks.

The pay is ok.

I don't see the reason why people here work over 50 hours a week unless they love their job. In which case, I don't really see it as much as work. I'm guessing in the case where they don't love their job that they don't have anything significantly better to do with their time.

My contract is for 37.75 hours.
My employer uses flexible hours which mean I can work 2-3 hours less on one day and compensate it on another day, this system also extends to months (max 20 hrs range)

I would be able to earn more at another company, but things like this keeps me here.

I'm not actually allowed to work more than 40 a week currently. Work 8-5, hour lunch and technically can take some other breaks in there. Don't always take an hour lunch so that means I can leave early one day, usually I just combine my time and leave early Friday. There's not a whole lot going on at the moment so it works out fine and the day goes fairly quickly.

My last base I was pretty consistently working 7-4 (with an hour lunch). Still not sure what my work hours are going to be at my current one.
