As a rich person, I laugh when people say things like this. It isn't always that easy to get a great job. But even rich people need poorer people to round out the botton of the economy. If they stop buying fast food and Xboxes, life will be worse for all of us -- even us rich people.

People in the UK are not paying $10 a gallon.Originally posted by: Sraaz
There was a special on the news a couple mornings ago where a guy from London said they pay the equivalent of $10 a gallon, and have for years.
You guys are getting close.Originally posted by: CraigRT
We're pretty much already at those prices in Canada. I paid $1.22 per litre for 91 octane here right now.
Sucks.

I hope gas prices go higher. Lack of energy independence is a threat to national security. This will get people thinking about other options (look at Brazil) and maybe now we'll actually do something about it.

At least the rich are admitting their bias.
This is certainly bringing the class warfare and widening income gap to the forefront in the U.S.

Gas prices are not going to ever go down again, the process is to get the consumer used to excessive prices, then only marginally decrease it so as to ratchet up the baseline prices.Originally posted by: MathMan

Good... because that is what it will take before gas prices ever go down again.
A lot of people want their low gas prices but also don't want to curtail their driving habits in any way, shape, or form-- very irrational behavior, IMHO.
Supply and demand , my butt. More like only six suppliers nationwide and collusion regarding pricing.
