well, handsfree is about to be mandatory here in Ontario while you are driving so I guess more people will have them.

that whole thing about hands free is such BS... headset or phone, talking on your cell significantly raises your risk of an accident regardless.

just don't carry on important conversation. It's fine for things like grocery items and eta, which is really all I use the phone for anyway.

not really

I think you need to rma your brain if you can't handle attentive driving and determining eta at the same time.

walking around with your bluetooth headset in your ear while not on the phone was always a surefire sign of a douchebag, you just didn't know it.

see also: cellphone belt clips

What's wrong with cellphone belt clips?

Everything.

Just put the damned thing in your pocket, this isnt 1995 where showing off you have a cell makes you "cool".

You all need help. Stop thinking that people are trying to be fashionable by wearing communication devices.

No, people need to stop thinking they are being fashionable by wearing this crap. I use a phone and it stays in my pocket unless it rings.

the mere fact of being on a cellphone increases your risk of getting into an accident. it doesn't matter what you're talking about or how good of a multitasker you think you are.

And I am not going to dispute that there is a difference, issue at hand is the degree of handicap. For me it is negligible. I am not asking for a whole grocery list, I am saying what else do we need. And stuff like I'll be home in 30 or so. I do limit the amount of attention I give to the conversation.

WTF is wrong with you? Seriously a phone is a sensitive, very expensive device, well unless you're one of those nitwits with the 14$ tracfone that thinks it's cheaper.

The only way to properly protect something such as a Blackberry, HTC Touch Pro, G1, ect, is by clip. You can't shove those things down in with keys ect.

fanny packs are practical too.

front left pocket = cellphone and nothing else
front right pocket = car keys + loose change
back left pocket = wallet (unless I'm in a crowd, in which case my wallet will go in the same pocket as my cell)

never owned one... only use BT with the in-car system and even then BT sucks the phone's batteries like nobody's business so I hate having to turn it on & off actively.

My HTC Titan came with a small pouch. I used to use a clip on a Treo and that got scratched to hell from it. The pouch looks corny too when I take it out but it's effective inside my pocket.

Thisaone.

I bought one to try out for a few weeks last year, and what a piece of shit.

You must have gotten a crappy one.

I use mine all the time. Driving and walking around. I could care less what anyone else thinks about me. I'm not trying to impress anyone, I'm trying to get work done.

I find myself more productive when I'm not "walking around"

Your corporate dress code lets you wear fanny packs o_O

I need a place that relaxed...sounds like an awsome life.

Yeah mine is a belt clip pouch for my Touch Pro. I have to wear non cargo pants at work, thus jeans or khakis. I can't sit on most of my stuff so that's a problem with only two front pockets. I have a wallet of course, and an ID. The ID can't go in the pocket with the wallet as it can demag credit/debit cards. Car keys. Company flash drive.

Not really much room for a touch pro to go into the pocket in this case.

As for the jest of the thread, I wear bluetooth almost everywhere because I hate tying up my hands with the phone. That and the Touch Pro gets so darn hot after 10 minutes of use I can't stand to have it against my face. Bluetooth is just so much easier.

Really? I do it all the time. Slide the Iphone into my front pocket, screen towards my thigh. Put keys in front of it or in other pocket. Slide pager (razr phone) in pants pocket opposite my keys.

No scratches, no dings, no problems. Sure beats hanging the thing off my belt.

See your having to watch which way you face it. Not to mention the keys would spell death to the phone if you fell and landed on your front pocket.

i like fanny packs myself. very useful indeed. however, my waistline is a bit...large now so I don't use them anymore.

I dont have to watch it really, its just second nature..

And yeah, I don't really trip and fall on my pocket or thigh, so thats not an issue with me. Personally, I just really like not having to have anything aside from my badge attached to my waist or belt. I did the whole 6600/6700 smart phone on your waist thing for a few years and hated it.

This be Double plus true!

Bluetooth is a lot better than wired handsfree devices as there are no wires that tangle up IMO.

I will never forget the day my boss showed up with a BT. He pranced around the office for days with that stupid thing on. Of course, the only person he ever spoke to was his wife. Finally I slipped, '---, you look like a fucking cyborg.'

Never saw it again :D

Well, I'm not wearing it as a fashion statement. I'm wearing it because it is functional. I like having my phone within easy reach, and also freeing up pockets for other items. I don't know why you assume people wear belt clips as a fashion statement.

Besides, my clothing covers it anyway so no one can see it.
