3D Touch!

I don't know how fast the lighting connector is. But I believe they were talking about the internal NAND storage speed.
I figured, but current Lightning is USB 2. It's a bottleneck. If they increase internal NAND speed, it'd be nice to see some of that improvement for USB transfers.

Considering all the Macs are now USB 3, and USB 3 is ubiquitous, it's about time the iPads and iPhones get USB 3.

It looks like the hipsters will have to buy the Rose Gold model if they want people to know that they have the new iPhone. Otherwise, it looks identical to the old one.

Went to Apple site. On live streaming of event today, site says my browser is not supported. Because no Flash? Nope. Because not an Apple product? Nope. Cause I am not using Windows 10 and Edge????????? Poor, poor, pitiful me on Windows 7 and Firefox. You'd think I was trying to crash a Microsoft event!

Your browser doesn’t support live streaming of the event.

Apple Special Event. September 9, 2015.

Requirements: Live streaming uses Apple’s HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology. HLS requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 7.0 or later, a Mac with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later, or a PC with Microsoft Edge on Windows 10. Streaming via Apple TV requires a second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 6.2 or later.

I ordered gold for my iPhone 5s back in 2013, and I'm ordering Rose Gold for my wife's new iPhone 6s. 😀

The "S" models always have kept mostly the same case design. It's Apple's version of the Tick-Tock strategy. :awe:

My iPhone 4S is really starting to show its age now. Looks like an iPhone 6S will make for a nice replacement.

I just went to youtube. Plenty of folks are live restreaming it.

Windows 10 and Edge is a new addition (because they're actually collaborating on something for today's announcement). But other than that, Apple's event live stream has always been only viewable from Safari on iOS or OSX.

So far I'm not quite sold on 3D Touch. I understand it, but it seems like this can already be done with tap and hold or pinching. Might be something I need to try in person to really appreciate.

why the fuck does "3d touch" even exist? Can't we just press and hold like civilized people.

Well... they gotta do something to keep out the great unwashed masses. If they let everyone watch the live stream, it would probably crash the server.

Frankly, I'm amazed that they let Windows 10 users in. I was expecting it to only work with Apple devices only.

It essentially adds additional menus/options doesn't it? Like for a home icon long press = move the icon. Hard press = context menu. I imagine you could combine the two for more options as well.

I like the idea of it. I always wanted a quick way to do a "right click" actions menu pop-up on a touch screen, and it looks like they nailed that idea.

Retina Flash — the entire display can light up 3X brighter than usual to be a flash for the front-facing camera.

pretty brilliant, but sounds like a battery killer.

also: inb4 retina flash banned in restaurants.
