But that's just it, before really the CPU instructions were what make the Mac different (I'd wager a bet that 99.9% of Mactards can't even tell you why it's better). And, as far as looks, there are PLENTY of laptops that are shinny as well, but hey, they don't have that bitten apple.

I think I must be the only person on the planet that hates the clicky touchpad.

Clicky touch surfaces sucked on the BB storm and the suck on laptops as well.

I hate that touchpad to. I could give less of a fuck about the 'gestures' than it not allowing me to click around right. And fuck I hate how most ignore the right click, stupid to press a key + click.

Bullcrap. Their hardware is nothing special compared to a PC (a GOOD one, not some emachines crap of course). I should know, I've repaired both macs and PCs at work. They are very similar inside overall and one isn't better quality than the other when it comes down to it.

Repairing a mac is just..stupid. So many small, unnecessary, and different length screws in that little case. Did that once, never again.

Well from a company of pretty hardcore network engineers the PC vs Macbook company laptop choice says a lot.

I own a ThinkPad. It's a great laptop. My wife owns a 13" Macbook Pro....it's a better laptop.

If I need a remote desktop or want to fire up games, neither are that great.

Lack of customization is the killing factor for me, the fact that I can get a technologically more progressive windows based laptop for 30-40% less is the killing factor.

Enough said.

My mom has a MBP, so does my brother, and as a family we also have a Macbook Air. The fact is that they are all very mediocre for the amount of money that they cost. Nothing better than buying a $1200 laptop that plays games with mediocrity.

Er, no, not really. I would have loved buy the last macbook pro but unfortunately I couldn't choose a graphics card other than the incredibly mediocre GT320, which performed significantly worse than a tell at 40% less cost.

Fair enough, I've never bought a laptop for power so I guess I'm out of this argument. For me I have a MacPro for customisation and power, and a MacBook Air for portability.

If you want a gamer machine get a full-sized desktop.

It's called being direct and calling someone to the floor when they have no fucking clue.

First and foremost, most that bash Macbook's especially the Air and Pro can't afford to drop $2k on a laptop or are hardcore gamers.

The Macbook Pro and Air are two great laptops for professional business users. They have plenty of CPU horsepower and long battery life. They also have a build quality that's untouchable.

Even my thinkpad's which were in a league of their own in the PC laptop arena feel like toys next to the aluminum unibody. There is no denying that.

People that think the Apple OS is not as customizable as Windows simple know nothing about it. Most really don't know much about Windows either, but google makes them dangerous.

At the end of the day though, just install Windows 7 on the macbook if you feel the need. Parallels and covergence though are god-like. I can launch Office 2010 for the PC natively.

Like I have said. I run a pretty state of the art PC desktop. For a laptop this time I am picking the 15" Macbook Pro and not another Thinkpad.

I didn't mean taking on the job of repairing a mac. I meant the process of repairing one is ridiculous. I'd do one for money of course, but I would be charging more for the inconvenience.
