It's called being direct and calling someone to the floor when they have no fucking clue.

First and foremost, most that bash Macbook's especially the Air and Pro can't afford to drop $2k on a laptop or are hardcore gamers.

The Macbook Pro and Air are two great laptops for professional business users. They have plenty of CPU horsepower and long battery life. They also have a build quality that's untouchable.

Even my thinkpad's which were in a league of their own in the PC laptop arena feel like toys next to the aluminum unibody. There is no denying that.

People that think the Apple OS is not as customizable as Windows simple know nothing about it. Most really don't know much about Windows either, but google makes them dangerous.

At the end of the day though, just install Windows 7 on the macbook if you feel the need. Parallels and covergence though are god-like. I can launch Office 2010 for the PC natively.

Like I have said. I run a pretty state of the art PC desktop. For a laptop this time I am picking the 15" Macbook Pro and not another Thinkpad.

Good call, I adored my MacBook pro, I adore my MacBook Air, and I'll be getting another when they put SB in it.

True, perhaps that was an exaggeration :hmm:

Also RAM is now the same in Mac's and PC's

aside from an EFI motherboard, all the hardware is the same. and as much as apple touts EFI, its actually layered on top of a very tiny BIOS.

I have never tried the mbp, we just have a c2d white macbook and we like it a lot. The trackpad is pretty good. We also had a mini and I loved that little thing.

Let's get one thing straight, and think really long and hard before answering this question: who the fuck do you think you are to "call" anybody to any floor?

Uh.. those are the percentage of users that visit that site, unless I'm reading that wrong. What the fuck does that prove? That a site that carries an Apple bias gets more users who use Apple products reading their site? BTW am I the only one who doesn't like surfing the web on small crappy devices(smart phones and small pmps)?

While I'm sure it doesn't represent a true market share it is indicative of the increase apple is getting.

I used to think the same way till I came across more recent smartphones and more updated browsers. My Incredible with Dolphin does a very nice job surfing the web. Mind you I wouldn't use it for ALL of my surfing but for doing a few checks of various sites and maybe a post or two on AT they do a great job nowadays.

The single biggest problem I see for PCs is just the fact that nobody gives a fuck about making a decent high-end PC that gets anywhere near the build quality and internal quality of a MBP. There are very few metal bodied PCs out there from major manufacturers (Lenovo - but not great, Envy, but plastic bottomed, secondary manufacturers if you want to go that way) that can compete with the MBP.

I am getting fucking tired of poorly cooled, poorly built, poorly engineered (internal, external), poorly supported and poorly marketed PCs. I've had 2k notebooks before and they die. My work notebooks from Dell and HP die.

I've hated Apple for most of my life for the control they place upon their manufacturing chain and the consumers as a whole in the way THEY want you to use your system, but maybe there's a good reason for that.

I've been tossing around getting a 15" MBP for months and I might pull the trigger this week.

Love or hate Apple, it's a finely built machine and not one that's as likely to die in 2 years.

Almost every Nvidia of that generation chip was affected, across all manufacturers. I had 2 different brands affected myself and I had relatives with another 2 brands, all non-Apple.

Used my brother in laws MBP and it didn't roast my nuts like my other notebooks.

So? I was just pointing out that MBP's are not necessarily "a finely built machine and not one that's as likely to die in 2 years".

So a problem with an industry-wide component, where *ALL* manufacturers were fucked by Nividia's shoddy soldering process, is a point against Apple?

Did you eat lead paintchips as a kid?

Point is you stated "a finely built machine and not one that's as likely to die in 2 years" thats all I'm taking issue with.

Now you can get all butt hurt over it or you can admit that Macs have problems as well.

Also you didnt have to buy a laptop with the faulty NV part in if you didnt go Apple.

I don't play jump rope with my power cords

It's not just that. I've seen countless laptops that developed bad solder joints on the DC jack...even when the user was being careful to avoid causing the problem. Many were Dell.
