Apple employee saying "we" when refering to Apple

A friend of mine recently got a job at the local Mac store. Now he and I have butted heads on the typical Mac vs. PC junk and continue to do so. Yesterday I saw him for the first time since he got this job and he engaged me in our typical banter:

"Well WE invented the mouse first"

😕
According to him Apple employees are encouraged to say "we" when referring to Apple. Has anyone else encountered this? Or is he going insane and I need to get him away from the shiny white products?

You've never heard anyone talk about their favorite sports team and refer to themselves as "we"?
As in "We won!" or "We really played well today!".
It's equally ridiculous, but it's pretty common.

Meh, more corporate-trained doublespeak. It is no different than renaming employees "associates" or customers "guests". Some marketing type was paid a lot of $$ to think up that gem to pass on in employee training... Honestly, I don't think that they are fooling anyone.

Good point. I suppose it shouldn't have stood out as weird to me considering that.

Isn't that completely wrong anyways? Pretty sure Xerox created the first mouse and then they decided to dump it so apple redesigned it.

It is simply team building. Many corporations/businesses encourage this type of behavior since most business operations are a team effort and it gives the individual some ownership which often relates to better performance and attitude...or so they say.

you overreacted and underwhelmed at the same time. this is why the Apple elitists are always on top of their game. your soon-to-be ex-friend will quickly find that you are no longer cool to hang with him at Starbucks. +1 for him.

Even if they did invent the mouse(which they didn't) it's still the same uncomfortable piece of shit it's been for 20 years. If they want to brag about something how about a track pad that doesn't suck.

At the Bank my wife works at, they've given pretty much all non-teller employees Vice-President titles. I.E. - Vice-President of Teller Training, Vice-President of Branch Help, etc... It's so stupid. They started with the financial planners and now pretty much everyone is a vice-president.

The still have the best trackpad on the market. There is always a lot of hate for Apple no anandteh or dailytech, but this is just ridiculous.

You do not refer to ATOT as "we" in real life when bashing Sony, Doom 3, Monster Cable and Bose?

The still have the best trackpad on the market.
Yet they still do not have TrackPoints, which are far more space and time efficient. Nothing beats having a mouse near the home row.

You can do sooooo many more things on a trackpad than a trackpoint. Can't believe this is even a serious post.
