AP Newsbreak: Gore to endorse Dean, sources say

"He used his expertise in science and technology to be the White House point man on telecommunications reform and the information superhighway."

They are still pushing him as the reason for the development of the Internet, unreal.

That's why the U.S. is way down on the list in Broadband deployment compared to the rest of the world.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I just don't understand this Clinton fixation people have. Al Gore and Howard Dean are their own men. Why the Clintons' opinion on this matter is important in anyway is beyond me...

I understand the quote, but I don't understand how that fits this situation. Please explain...

WHOA! Take it easy, Mr Kerry! 🙂

The Clintons are generally seen as the leaders of the Democratic Party. From what I understand, the Democratic Party is not very happy with Dean. That's all, that's all...it's cool, ese...

Yes, Al Gore is to blame for broadband deployment. You rightwingers never get tired.
Why don't you educate yourself about what Al Gore did do to facilitate the developlment of the internet, both as senator and VP, and then judge for yourself.
He never claimed to have invented it, contrary to popular belief, but he has done much more than other politicians to promote its development.

I think Dean's the leader of the democratic party.

He will be the basically the controling power of it if he gets the nomination - yes. Thus it is exactly why the Clintons may not like him. If he(dean) ditches McAwful - grab a big ol bowl of popcorn because the fireworks display will be intense.😉

But anyway as for gore endorsing dean - is this really going to help? endorsement from a guy who couldn't beat Bush...or even win his own state? Meh - I expect more to follow though - Kerry has imploded and Clark has failed to sustain any real following. Unless Gephardt wins Iowa it's goodnight for all the candidates because Dean will likely win NH. 2 early wins and it's a done deal IMO.

So you're prepared to oppose Vinton Cerf on the history of the Internet? Are you going to argue with Woz about the history of Apple, now?

No, I just don't put Gore on the same level as the Woz and Vinton.

NSF4, how astonishing for me to see your post and find out you had "billions and billions" of posts (Thanks Carl Sagen). And I loved your signature.

First, it's Sagan. Second, why not keep your fawning posts limited to PM? 😛

Well, technically Gore didn't win, but he did get more votes than Bush. 😉

I think with Gore endorsement, Dean is pretty much guaranteed the nomination. An endorsement from a man who got the most votes in the last election, I think it means Kerry and Clark should go home. I don't even know why the rest of them are still here.

Yeah, this has been discussed thoroughly. I don't think anyone informed is still saying Gore claimed he invented the internet. He said he played a role in creation of the internet, which he did, but this has nothing to do with Dean endorsement.

He did no such thing.

Gore's endorsement of Dean is important because Gore still
maintains a lot of respect amongst Women, African Americans and unions.
All key voting blocks that Dean will want to control.

Key word being "anyone informed," which apparently doesn't include you, unless of course you consider yourself, Dick Armey, or GWB more informed on the issue than Vinton Cerf, Marc Andreessen, etc.
Here is exactly what Gore said:
"During my service in the United States Congress I took the initiative in creating the Internet." Are you denying that he took initiative in creating the Internet?
Vinton G. Cerf, a senior vice president at MCI Worldcom and the person most often called "the father of the Internet" for his part in designing the network's common computer language, said in an e-mail interview yesterday, "I think it is very fair to say that the Internet would not be where it is in the United States without the strong support given to it and related research areas by the vice president in his current role and in his earlier role as senator."

Its a comment on the Dean campaign in general. Being that you didn't know anything about Dean until today, I guess you've been a bit out of the loop...
