I complain that it only runs on windows xp unless you do a little self modding..

Those of you who do not like the game for its graphics ... please stay out of video-gaming and keep those big titles with your own standards of high-quality graphics for benchmarks.
On my side, I appreciate it a lot. Actually, I like it a lot. AOE III Demo shows exactly what you need to know. Is it the type of game you would buy ? If you don't want it, alright with me.
And I bet some of you saying the Demo's graphics turned you off will eventually get it via Peer-To-Peer programs to give it a "second try". Pfff.
Anyways ...
Age Of Empires III will be awesome. Its actual Demo gives a minimum, and that's appreciated.
The times are changing indeed.
I'm from those Atari, NES 8-Bit and Turbo-Graf-16 days, and I've followed the video-gaming evolution, and revolutions.
But I can still have fun with a game's content and features, besides its visual quality.
If you guys want top-notch graphics and superb game-play like that (and I mean top-end quality by your own very high requirements as it seems so), then please go work for Industrial Light & Magic and make some visual effects for future movies or something, but quit the video-gaming domain.
Stupid graphics evolutions is washing too many brains out there.

First of all - Graphics and Gameplay aren't two different things, graphics are part of gameplay. Would Half-Life 2 be the same on the Quake I engine? No, it would not be the same game at all.
First of all, holy crap this game is awesome I might actually buy it. The last game I bought was Battlefiled 2, that was a complete waste.
The only things I dislike are the fact can't control the behavior of my units, like tell them to "stand ground" for example. I can't set unit formations either, not to mention I'd like to be able to zoom out more.
Another thing that bother me is the User Interface, it looks way to big and should be a lot smaller, but that's just me.

Well my roommate's 5200 runs the opening menu at about 5 fps...he hasn't tried gameplay yet.
It runs fine on my 9800 (1280x1024, Low AA, most other stuff on high) - at least until the battles...

Doesn't mean the game will run low though.

I am sure the final version will have miltary formation as all other AOE/AOM had them and they also had Stand Ground. I think it is a Demo thing with it not being there, err it might be
Yes i agree the UI is pretty Big. I hope there is some control over this stuff in the final... But my guess it might be best to be played on a 1600x1200. Yep wish i could zoom out some more also.
Hopefully this weekend i can get down and play and see how it stakes up with AOE/AOE2/AOM
