If I ever got Beats, I would get MIXR because, if I understand correctly, I could choose which end the cord goes into. I could reuse the detachable cord from my Panasonic headphones (which has iPod + volume controls included on the cable).

oh you mad bro. Good thing you can always find another family to drop money you don't have on and make you feel loved.

I am not mad. I am actually very happy. You have no one. I have a loving partner and we are sitting here doing our email/facebook/etc TOGETHER. The kids are in the family room watching Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters.

I went to the older child's high school today to meet with guidance. He is doing very well considering her ex tried hard to make him fail 9th grade.

He has 4 A's. two C's and a D (him and his teacher clash, it's World History).

I can accept a B average.

The awesome part of all this is even without money, I can still get laid. Sadly, you'd be stroking it to goat porn.

He has a volume and controls on the Beats headset. He doesn't want white muffs, but he wants a white headset.

He has a couple of cables he uses with them. Some are coiled, some have the controls and some are just straight through.

Oh my bad.

So white band + white muffs is the new version. The old version has a white band but black muffs.

Dr. Dre really has the kids figured out.

You guys give alky way too much shit

I'm with Alky here. I have a great pair of headphones (Sennheiser HD 580)and headphone amp that I spent several hundred on so I know you can get $40 headphones that are better than Beats, but that's not the point. It's a fad like any other fad when we were young and wanted to fit in. If my son asked for them and was overall a pretty good kid, I'd probably get them for him for Christmas if I could afford it. I would pay that kind of money for my kid to get a self confidence boost even if it's for an incredibly stupid reason. I would also get him a nice basic pair of headphones (maybe Grado SR-60) for "at home" use with the excuse to not wear out the Beats. If the kid is smart, he'll eventually realize that the Beats are not very good. I'd rather get him a paid of Beats than an iPhone, which could create some more parenting issues down the line.

Paid $80 for my daughter's in Afghanistan. The story that you got them in a war zone makes them worth every penny.

Meh, who cares what a kid wants to wear? The beats aren't audiophile class but for the music that a teenager is going to listen to anyway, it works pretty well. If you ever actually get a chance to listen to them, they aren't bad headphones. Just not worth the price, like every other fashionable consumer item.

One day the kid will grow up and realize he can hear better than what his beats are going to offer, and then he will buy his own pair of cans. Until then, let kids be kids. And if you can afford your kid $269 headphones, then so be it.

The kid has Alky as his new "father"...he goes to school everyday mired in essence of douche.

Alky, why are you so worried about saving a few bucks on douchey, fad headphones of lackluster quality that already cost a couple hundred bucks? You've spent way more on dumber shit in the past...thought you were ballin' bro? #MINO

This. And then when he retaliates, you report it to the moderators. Think that his posts are attention seeking and you don't like it? Then don't respond. Think his posts are over the line? Then report them. I'm not protecting him, but rather, after coming here to see a reported post & seeing that it was others who started it first... it's getting a bit old.

So, knock it off - both sides.

From a non moderation point of view:
Why are people whining that they're not great headphones. They're decent, and it's a fashion statement. Why do people wear expensive Nike sneakers? Why do people have 18kt gold chains, when gold filled would be indistinguishable to anyone who is not looking at them with a magnifying glass? Etc.

Fortunately, I don't dictate what a child's sense of fashion is as long as it's ok with the school/place he will be and not a danger to anyone…I let them choose their own path.

Beating a kid for merely asking for something is pretty much sociopathic behavior.

Damn, if my kid asked for these douchy headphones - he'd get a beating.

and hopefully you aren't a parent and never get to be one.

Alky i won't get on you for buying them. lord knows i spend far to much on my kids.

But it might be a good time to try to get him to understand it's not always great to fallow the herd. try to get him to buck the trend! get some better headphones for the same price.

though that won't work heh.
