I really didn't want to once I found out that I have to vote at the elementary school where I used to live several years ago. For some reason it says I am registered at that address still, even though I never was able to register to vote while I lived there and have since updated my address with the DMV multiple times and renewed my drivers license.
Now instead of being able to walk 5 minutes to the school on my street, I have to drive 20 minutes and hope to find a parking spot anywhere near the place.

I still plan on voting, but we'll see how I feel in the morning.

Nope...I WILL vote, as I have in every election since 1972. I'm yet another believer that if you don't vote, you don't get to bitch about how things turn out. (first amendment rights not withstanding)

Vote or STFU!

Already voted absentee. Bad choices or not, it's still my responsibility to choose whom I consider to be the best possible option. The George Carlin philosophy of not voting because "then I'm not responsible for any problems we might have" is retarded. If you don't vote you may not be hurting, but you're sure as hell not helping, yet you still reap the benefits of living here. That makes you a leech.

This will be the first time I haven't voted. I never got around to registering since I moved. Just lazy. And for those saying I can't complain, big whoop. I'm not one to talk about politics anyway. Being in CA Obama will win no matter what, so that doesn't matter. And as far as local politics, I just moved here so I don't think I have a right to vote on things I don't know about anyway. Call me pathetic, I really don't give a shit.

Local and state-wide initiatives are far more important to the individual voter than is the President, and why voting is so freaking important.

So many propositions on the CA ballot this year that it's almost criminal not to vote. (yes, I'm being hyperbolic). Still, based on how these propositions will significantly affect your taxes/income, the state budget...any CA resident will be expected to endure a lot of complaining over the next several years.

Choosing not to vote in this election invalidates your political opinions for quite some time. These initiatives WILL affect you, whether you like it or not, and you voice does matter.

Props 2, 4, 7, 8, 10, KK, H, are some of the biggest ones. Concerning the potential cost of Dairy in the next 7 years, Individual rights, energy....
Not having an opinion on these issues, or caring how they will affect your taxes is completely irresponsible for a person of voting age, imo.

If you don't vote, you have no right to complain about or praise the direction of the country. If you don't vote, STFU, sit back, and enjoy the ride.

If someone is THAT far removed from reality that they don't even have the guts to go into the booth and pick a candidate -- hell, write in a candidate, or just vote for local offices -- then I think that person is pretty pathetic..

I think it's pathetic that someone wants to knock on someone for exercising their right. I don't keep up enough with local politics to get into those, but either way I'm not quite sure who would be right for the country as the POTUS in that election. So I abstain.

Contray to the beliefs of most, local elections matter the most. Too bad no one ever really researches their local elections.

 The best way to exercise your vote is to pay attention to judicial elections seats.

...or at least scan the summary cards before you vote ;)

You used to be able to say the same thing about North Carolina. Now it is a swing state....

Colorado, Virginia, Nevada...

hell, even Arizona is getting play as a swing state over the last couple of days, lol.

thats funny because the last time i checked there seemed to be some money taken out of my check by uncle sam

Then go live/work somewhere else...I'm sure there must be a place that doesn't tax its citizens.

I hate paying taxes too, but I do "enjoy" most of the services they pay for, such as roads, police & fire protection, national defense, (not nation-building, but I don't have the option to say "NO!") and many other things that cost a nation, state, county, or city to build/provide. It's all the fucking waste of taxpayer dollars that pisses me off...

So, if you drive on any road in the US, take public transportation, get electricity delivered, live in an area that has police and/or fire protection, as well as have a choice in what language you speak, you DO reap the benefits of living here...you just get to help pay for them...:D

I've never understood this mentality. Why is participation in the process the gateway to discussion of the process or its results? If Obama is elected and turns America socialist, why should only the McCain voters have the 'right' to complain? If McCain is elected and starts 100 wars, why should only the Obama voters have the 'right' to complain?

If I, as an informed voter, look at the two major-party candidates and cannot in good conscience cast a vote for either, should I be forced to go to the polls and vote for "the lesser of two evils"? Or, possibly worse yet, vote for a third-party candidate that I have no allegiance to or knowledge of, just to 'send a message'? Let me tell you, voting third-party just to vote accomplishes no more than staying home does.

If anything, those who decide not to vote because there are no acceptable candidates may have MORE of a right to complain than the voters. If you voted, then presumably you liked the candidate you voted for. If that candidate lost, well then you're SOL. If you don't vote, you don't even have a candidate that's a POSSIBILITY of being acceptable. Not only can you complain about the choices the victor makes, but you can also complain about the lack of representation in the election.

Wow. idiocy 101 here.

If you choose the life of a cipher, you should be willing to be as silent as one.

Your lack of an opinion when it matters shouldn't grant you the greater voice after the fact. Do you think not voting absolves you from paying taxes? What kind of hypocrite complains about where their money is going when they openly declared, "I don't care?" Or what has become of the country when they already declared "I don't care!"

When do you start caring?

totally agree.

I bet Brian Moore could use some votes. ;)

Great, now I've been flagged by that big database in the Pentagon ;)

shit me too, why did I click on a socialist link? Their first few lines of text made me .
Fed's, I don't like the commies at all! Please, let me continue boarding planes!

And as was said earlier in the thread, not voting period if retarded.
Simply feigning ignorance of the political choices is retarded. Seriously? So you don't know enough about the candidates... and you make the choice to note vote instead of, oh you know, educating yourselves on the candidates/issues? Ugh. USA, home of the people looking for the easy way out of everything.

Local and state election matters are very important, even more important than the Fed in some ways. At least, they used to be, until we all felt it was great to let the Fed grow in size and make the states matter a whole lot less than they should.
