Boku Dake ga Inai Machi (Erased) is pretty good so far. I'm pretty sure I mentioned it in my initial look at this season's anime line-up. I've checked out a few more since then too...

Hai to Gensou no Grimgar: Honestly, at first, this one is pretty hard to watch. The pacing is terrible, and you just get this feeling that the show is wasting your time. The worst part of the show is probably the ecchi or lewd talk, but not because it's "too much", but because it's so poorly added that it feels like a complete juxtaposition. In episode 2, there was (not really a spoiler, but since it discusses episode details, I'll black it out)
a scene where the one guy (the token asshole) decides to peep on the girls while they're bathing. The other guys go with him to try to stop him, but they're all inevitably caught. The repercussions from that event seep into the next episode as the characters are still apologizing for it, etc. Now, that is probably "more real" compared to how other anime treat people getting caught peeping, but... in this type of anime, I don't give a shit about it.
Oh, and the main character's voice throws me off so much. He looks about 18-21, but his voice just sounds too deep.

Overall, my thoughts would be... watch the first episode. If you're interested in the plot, be aware that some of the following episodes can be rather slow, but it does pick up a bit.

Dimension W: This is one of those series where I don't think I'd call it "great", but I don't think it does anything wrong. In a sense, this is kind of a "buddy cop" anime, which means you've got two people that are an awkward pairing that are attempting to solve a mystery or mysteries. As is typical of most episodic anime, the series features an overarching plot of "The Numbers". (I won't say much about them since that's talked about in episode 3.)

Overall, if you like anime with some good fight animation and some awkward humor between a gruff and tough guy and a rather awkward, naive girl, then give it a shot. There is a little ecchi, but it's not that big of a deal and while it is obvious, it isn't something that the story focuses on.

Musaigen no Phantom World: I think this kind of falls into the same category as the last one. This isn't a great anime, but it's not bad. This one does have a bit more of a focus on ecchi, but how much you get just depends on the episode. The first with its limbo scene probably has the most. This series is also fairly episodic with a rather shrouded overarching plot, which means most of the interest rests on the laurels of the phantom-of-the-week subplots.

Overall, if you want to watch a show with a little bit of humor (some of it being ecchi), rather simple story-wise, and some decent characters and animation, give it a shot.

Divine Gate: This one takes place in an alternate world where there are different connected worlds and people have unlocked elemental abilities, and people are in search of what's called the "Divine Gate" for their own various reasons. What I think the series doesn't do well is explain things. It's one of those things where you're watching and stuff happens, yet you're kind of left wondering: "What is this place?" "Who was that person?" "How did he just appear?" "What relation do these characters have?" There are some series that over-explain themselves and there are some that don't do enough, and I'd say that Divine Gate is one of the latter. Although, at least the character names are very simple to remember as they're based upon the character's color: Aoto (blue), Midori (green), and Akagi (red). One thing that may throw you off on this series is that the fight scenes are typically rendered fully in 3D. So, the anime will transition from hand-drawn art to the 3D at the blink of an eye, which is a bit jarring.

Overall, this isn't a bad show. I almost wrote "the characters are kind of fun", but after thinking about it, Midori is probably the only fun one. Akagi is too brash and Aoto is too gloomy. I wouldn't say that it's one that I look forward to each week, but it's okay for wasting some time.

Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: This is one that I originally passed over because its tag was "josei", which isn't a tag that I see too often. As for what that means, where you have shounen (young male) and seinen (adult male) anime, you have shoujo (young female) and josei (adult female) anime. I don't usually get into much shoujo anime, and josei isn't much different. However, I saw some remarks that where Boku Dake ga Inai Machi is good, this series was good but being ignored. So, I decided to give it a shot. I don't think it's a bad series, but unless you're into theatrics or Rakugo, it might seem a bit awkward to sit through a character performing a good bit of a story. Also, it's worth noting that while most anime fit into 30-minute time slots, this is an hour-long show (~47 minutes sans commercials).

Overall, it's not a bad show by any stretch, but as I mentioned, if you aren't interested in the theatrics, those portions of the show may drag on a bit too much for you. The main character is a male, so sort of like Ore Monogatari!!, that may help a male viewer be more interested in the show. While there is a rather prominent female character, the only love in this show is for Rakugo.

Honestly, I thought Parasyte was overrated. The biggest thing that bothered me was how Satomi would CONSTANTLY say things like, "Are you really Shinichi!?" She was so goddamn annoying! Another problem is that it became rather apparent where the show was going after a few episodes. I had a strong feeling that
Reiko/Ryoko and Migi would become far more "human" even though they kept denying it
. I think the series would've been a bit better if it was shorter, so it felt a bit more concise. I do still intend to check out the live action movies though (it was split into two parts).

. The girl who could sense paraystes (cant remember her name) the best part was main x main girl sex scene. You dont get that from a whimpy boi in anime! :cool:

I find that some episodes are better than others, but I think part of that stems from not being too up to snuff on Japanese "dagashi". There are some episodes with good humor that work regardless, but definitely not all of them.

I grew up in Taiwan which used to be under Japanese rule so a lot of that stuff was still around when I was a kid :cool:


also enjoying kono subarashii sekai ni shukufuku wo!

Watching Log Horizon atm. Ep 8. So far so good. Better than SAO IMO. However, SAO does have a better sound track and waaaaaaay better animation doe.

I need to stop going to Wikipedia when I want to see what an anime title actually translates to. For example, I always thought that Erased was an odd title for Boku dake ga Inai Machi, which is "The Town Without Me". Unfortunately, Wikipedia has no spoiler tags, and sometimes it can screw you over simply by headings. For example, a character note for Boku dake ga Inai Machi spoiled the result of the latest episode's cliffhanger. Another example is when I was curious what Hai to Gensou no Grimgar translated to, and the entry has a list of previous group members.

Log Horizon is better if you ignore the abomination that is the second season. I don't know what it is about the writers for the anime source material (manga, light novels, etc.), but good god... what's with the weird-ass tendency to go completely off-the-rails at the end? I mean, Log Horizon ends with
a plot that looks like someone binged too much Ancient Aliens on The History Channel.

I haven't even watched Erased yet. Apparently it's going really well. Like really really well. The ratings are above A+ lol. I'm not convinced. The ratings probs been rated by 14 year old kids.

LH was boring how can you say LH is better? No plot at all. Just random arcs iirc. Is your spoiler link linked to Season 2? I have not seen S2 yet.

Erased is pretty cool, its about 11 eps in at this point, a reasonably dark mystery tale..

you can catch it over on www.crunchyroll.com free with ads

well you 1080p, immediate simulcasts an hr after it airs in japan, the occasional free loot crate or priority on w/e other promotion they're running for subscribers. And lots of convention goodies if you attend their cons, but if you're not into all that, you can just watch for free with ads at a lower resolution, they have a decent library of acquisitions...

kissanime uploads faster than CR and kissanime is all 1080p if the episodes in CR are 1080p. Most of the old series are 720P+ and all the new series are all 1080p. Just saiyan.
oh and ad block. :D

CR is good and convenient I guess?

i like all the bonus junk though, it pays for itself really, but to each his own, just posting where you could watch Erased for free from a legal location.. i believe they have exclusivity on broadcasting it...
