I watched a few more anime over the past few days...
Kakegurui - This story revolves around an academy where gambling and mind games take center stage after classes are over. We first meet this guy who's considered a loser, and finds himself in deep debt with this shrewd, conniving girl. However, a new girl comes in and starts to shake things up. I'd say that the biggest thing that you'll notice in this series is the art style. It definitely has a sort of "grotesque" style that you tend to see in more seinen shows -- the style where a character can look all cute one moment and nasty and snarling the next. Honestly, it'll probably remind you a bit of Hellsing. It's a somewhat interesting show as it has a sort of "how'd you do it?" mentality, but I'll have to see where it goes. Will it focus more on the guy and be one of those "learns to be better" series? Will it focus more on the girl's rise as a transfer student except through the eyes of the guy?
Nana Maru San Batsu - Sort of like the last series, the animation is what stuck out on this one the most to me. It wasn't a certain style like the other, but rather... it seemed a bit low budget. As for the series, it's fine... I guess? It's about a bookworm that gets drawn into the world of competitive quizzes (like team-based Jeopardy). The series didn't seem bad or anything, but I guess nothing really stood out. If you say it's kind of like a sports anime, it'll certainly be a bit of a daunting task to make it nail-biting... especially since the kid is already the prodigy type.
Konbini Kareshi - Eh, honestly... this one was kind of boring. I was expecting it to have a stronger focus on humor and such (given the focus on the convenience store), which I think it
tries to, but it's not... at all. I might watch another one to see if it focuses more on the whole multi-situational aspect that the description proposed as this one mostly focused on a single guy's crush.
Tsurezure Children - So, this is one of the two short series that I've checked out, and spoilers... they've probably been the best so far. Sort of like the promise of Konbini Kareshi, this series focuses on multiple people in school and their awkward interactions based upon quirky personalities. Pretty much every story focuses on love or relationships in some shape or form, but it's definitely not a romance... especially when you consider that one story has a guy blackmail a girl into kissing him. It's a goofy series, but if you like silly comedy with a dash of romance, check it out.
Aho-Girl - This is another series full of awkward characters that focuses on a girl who is considered the epitome of stupid, and the people who have to deal with it -- mostly being her crush and childhood friend. Of course, her childhood friend wants nothing of her, and routinely knocks some sense into her.. rather physically.

It's an awkward, goofy series that you don't have to think much about. Just relish in how dumb it is.
I've got a few more to check out still....
