External speakers or headsets exist
Crackles through headphones too.
And before you say it, USB sound cards exist, and yes, I have one. I was commenting on the longevity of the machine, not seeking solutions I already know about ;)

I was considering this laptop too, but the company doesn't provide a customer service phone number.

How did you make it to adulthood?

Do you need a phone number for sales or tech support questions, or both?

I just wanted to confirm a 1 year warranty.

Although you're purchasing it from Amazon.com, this particular listing is sold by Klick Enterprises, LLC.

1) Call HP and ask if Klick Enterprises, LLC is an authorized reseller?
2) Assuming their answer is yes, call Klick Enterprises, LLC and confirm the laptop is brand new retail and offers 1 year warranty? I would actually do this in writing via e-mail but you're gonna do you which is 100% oppositive conventional wisdom.
3) After purchasing laptop and you have questions/regrets, make sure to keep ATOT informed of every brain fart you have.

I think I already said this, but don't buy a laptop (or any non necessity) on credit. If someone gave you 3k that's one thing, but this is not your money. Getting approved for credit doesn't mean "here's 3k go spend it" it just means you're allowed to borrow 3k but you still need to pay it back. Credit agencies will always make it sound like a celebration when you're approved but reality is it's really not a big deal.

You still need to somehow come up with that money within the month so you can pay it back. Never use credit unless you have the means to pay it back. What credit is good for is to get you buy between pay cheques, and that's it. Bunch of bills come out, or you need groceries, but you're getting paid next week and your bank account is low, ok, use credit for that, but make sure you limit yourself to things you don't need because when your pay cheque comes in you should pay off the credit card.

Do as I say and not as I do. I racked up my credit line to like 40k this year due to stuff that came up... But I do have a good paying job, so it will get paid off... eventually lol.

I'm going to wait until tomorrow to call back Thunderobot and see if they'll do a 1 year warranty.

They didn't answer before and now it says their office has closed for the day.

Not to be too cynical but just because they say they do one on the phone doesn't mean that they'll actually do one after they have your money and something goes wrong.

In general, if you can get a credit card that gives you points toward something you want and you pay it off in full every month, you can do ok. Don't actually go into debt for something like that unless it's an emergency, which it almost certainly isn't.
And the best way to insure you pay it off every month is to have them extract their payment automatically from your checking account and insure that your checking account has enough balance at all times to cover the hit. Do this with your utilities too and any over monthly or bimonthly payment.

Yes, or buy used. Don't finance anything if you can help it, it's a losing game.
Finance things that are both (1) too expensive to buy on a single paycheck and (2) expected to have positive returns on investment. Education and homes. Maybe stocks if you are very careful and really know what you are doing. Then anything else that is on credit should be paid back in full ASAP (by the next bill's deadline).

Should one of us do a favor and start a "help, the creditors won't stop calling" thread for Gizmo? That will help relieve the stress when the time comes.

I'm on the verge of buying this laptop, I got a response from customer service confirming a 1 year warranty.

From manufacturer or retailer?

Again, from the maker of the laptop or the company selling you the laptop?
That's an important distinction that I don't think the OP fully grasps. Even though the retailer confirms there is a 1 year warranty, the manufacturer actually fulfills that warranty.

I suggested above for the OP to call HP and confirm if this retailer is an authorized reseller? (crickets)

As is painfully obvious, OP isn't so great at following advice. Even if you're getting an HP manufacturers warranty, I wouldn't touch this reseller with a 10 foot pole. Their Amazon ratings are skimpy. Also note that Amazon isn't doing the fulfillment (only the processing), so this is in effect like buying off of eBay.

I previously linked to the OMEN MAX 16 on HP dot com because it seems like a reasonable choice at this price point. HOWEVER, they do not offer the 5070 Ti on their own web site, not even as a CTO option. That leads me to believe that Klick (and one other outfit reselling this config) is bringing in a non- U.S. SKU. I'm not totally familiar with HP's warranty, but my hunch is that this is simply another in a string of bad ideas in this thread. If this was a configuration sold in the U.S., it would be very easy to find.

Caveat emptor.

Couldn't find a BBB page for them, but the owner is a restauranteur...

Honestly I'd only buy a gaming laptop if I had the disposable cash to not mind it stopping working in a company of years.
OP could build a killer gaming desktop and get a decent laptop for the cash he's borrowing for this.

While this is plainly obvious, he's very specifically interested in mobile GPUs if you'll recall, so this is mostly an extension of that I think.

OP, have you considered what your pay-off plan looks like? How long do you plan to take to get your balance down to zero?

But think of that poor GPU all constrained by lack of power and cooling!

I'd be very, very surprised if he had a plan to pay it off!
