dudeman007 and KeithTalent - I have to disagree with you both. My observations were not complaints. I did not say I couldn't comprehend what they were saying. I am just saying we should label this new genre. It is very Taratino and Gilmore Girls like. I really doubt any real life people speak that way, much less teenagers. If they did, it would not be genuine and would be done in a joking manner. If you and your friends really speak that way, dudeman0078, I shudder to think what hanging out with you guy would be like.

The problem with GG's dialogue, in my opinion, was not the fact that they said what they said, but it was how they said it, which was at lightning speed, barely letting one person finish before the other started. Juno is not like that.

I think that might be what I find at fault with it... I literally watch it and just feel so turned off that I don't know what's wrong. I just know that it feels fake.

But I saw Juno in an online Flash ad and it seemed interesting enough. Looks like Evan ended up getting lucky... how about Seth? ;)

I think I can understand what you guys mean about teens talking... I haven't seen it but from what it sounds like, they were a bit "intelligent" when most teens talk a bit... not so much. I mean this one girl that talks to me (albeit online rather than through voice) says absolutely retarded things like "nzmjc" I mean... what the hell is that?

In the theatre when I was watching this movie, there was a group of 3 teenagers talking in that exact way; I'm just sayin'.

None of my friends talk like that though.

I liked the movie. Nothing great though. However, my other friends that all saw it, including my girlfriend, loved it.

Why? Is he missing?

Yeah I saw him post in a thread just yesterday. I think he's fine.

At this point, my one wish in life is to read all of the threads created by every single poster on ATOT who has gone to see this movie and wishes to ask others about it. Because, you know, they're not able to talk about the movie in just one thread alone and of course each Juno-viewer's search is borked.

movie's pretty good the first time around. After seeing clips/previews again after I saw the movie, I realized that the movie is just filled with a setup for a another witty comment after another. I doubt there is a 16 year old anywhere that is as quick-mouthed and witty as the lead character during 100% of her day. If she was that sharp, she wouldn't have gotten pregnant anyways.

very unrealistic, but nicely written and nice the first time around. Very annoying anytime around after that.

i thought it tried too hard to be funny at times, and some of the dialogue was awkward in the first half hour or so (people in the theater were laughing but i was cringing because some of the words just didn't seem right). the movie gets better as it goes along though.

My thoughts, too. In the first half, the dialogue was really unrealistic and forced... Like it was trying REALLY hard to be the uber-Ghost World... No one talks like that. I can't tell if they were doing that on purpose to create a sort of fake world, or if they were just trying too hard. And then the movie sort of shifted gears and got more serious, with the dialogue more toned-down. And again I can't tell if that's somehow supposed to symbolize the main character waking up to the real world, or if someone just got sloppy and made the script inconsistent. But at any rate, I became more invested in it as the movie went on and the dialogue got less distracting..

The screenwriter (who's an ex stripper) wrote it on a laptop in a grocery store Starbucks. It's her first script.

/btw I think that's awesome. Haven't seen it, might go tomorrow.

Ellen page is 20 BTW, or something close to that (shes got an '87 birthday). Funny how she portrays someone 3/4 years younger than her.

don't see how that's funny. actors in hollywood have been doing this for decades.

My wife and I saw it last night and we both loved it. The dialogue was well-written and funny, and the acting was solid all around.

The wife and I saw it yesterday and both liked it. It was quirky and even moving at times. All in all and good movie worth seeing IMO.

ok me and the g/f saw it last night she thought it was a cute movie, i personally did not like it. Alot of the lines seemed forced, alot of scenes seemed awkwardly cringeworthy and at times it just reminded me so much of a crappy version of napoleon dynamite almost.
