Anyone going to EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) this year?

Those prices aren't that abnormal. I paid $100 to see Tiesto at Playhouse in Hollywood and $100 at XS in Las Vegas. That's general admission.

Side note, seeing Tiesto next weekend for the 21st bday at Encore Beachclub in Vegas. Got a lily pad table next to the DJ booth and seeing the EC Twins at Marquee at night with a tier 2 table!!

jesus, i've never been to playhouse but that seems excessive. i usually expect vegas to charge more than los angeles, given they can get all the people from the rest of the country who fly in to pay $50-100 on account of the whole "well we only come to a place like this sometimes" effect.

i saw tiesto in concert at the hard rock last year and it was like $75 with a 2 hour open bar in vegas.

Getting a table for dance music, i am not sure i'd ever do then again its your 21st birthday. i wish i was comfortable with going so baller when i was 21 so i hope you definitely enjoy it.

on a side note, part of me doesnt like where the scene is headed with all the clubs just packing as many newbs to the scene who jsut want to be there. same thing as what hip hop clubs are these days. like i know tiesto was at XS a couple weekends ago, and friends told me it was the typical XS bs with waiting in lines for 2-3 hours and crowded as hell inside. marquee at least you can pre buy ticekts online and not deal with that crap, so I suppose i'm a bigger fan of how they run it just like most EDM clubs in LA would do. and how are you supposed to dance to EDM in the kind of mess XS typically is.

tiesto is worth seeing though , i'm sure you'll have a great time. he's getting up there in the years and who knows how long he'll go for. i googled and he's 43! and we have the same birthday haha.

$275 for a 3 day pass? $532 for a VIP 3 day pass?

I'll pass... even though there are some great artists in there.

my friend and i got the VIP and it is pretty damn ridiculous. insomniac raised the prices from last year too, i heard it was $215 and $500 (its 275/500 this year).

i suppose for me though, the extra $225 for VIP seemed worthwhile. if im gonna drive all the way there, book hotels etc and stand out on a raceway for 3 days i better be able to piss without waiting in a line for an hour. went to beyond wonderland adn the extra $60 for VIP was worth it for the bathrooms alone (and got a few free drinks and some food with it too).

what i think is also insane is the shuttle service. $77 for 3 days. i dare to speculate what parking will cost.

ehh... now that i'm in my late 20's, think the time has largely passed for me to hang with the young bucks 😛

There's 7 of us going so the pitch in isnt going to be completely ridiculous and my work is paying for a bigger portion so its nice. What weekend did you go? I went in February I think when he announced his residency at XS. It was crazy packed, could barely walk around. I actually prefer when its not too crazy, makes it easier to pick up on someone.

oh i went in may last year. he was at the hardrock in the "joint" so it was billed as "tiesto in concert" like , there were seats sort of movie theater style and the whole deal for the upper deck. open standing area for the lower part.

to ed21x, age is just a number haha.

saw gemini and Koan Sound last week in Santa Cruz. No drugs. I am 32 and girls thought I was 23 the way I danced. lol.

2 weeks from now Zeds dead for the second time in 2012.

No it just means that they aren't laced with all the stuff that makes your body recoil.

Most people do mollys now which is supposed to be pure mdma. Its a much more subtle hit and doesnt make you feel horrible and depressed the next day. 5 years ago, it was all ecstasy and that hit you haaard.

That's another thing about these kinds of events... I feel like you go to them to take drugs. I don't do any illicit drugs, so... :/

Some people dont. If you feel like you can enjoy the music sober, more power to ya.

I can enjoy the music sober. It's just unlikely that I can enjoy it while everyone around me is tripping on something.

It's kind of like going to parties... I can enjoy them a whole lot more if everyone isn't drunk. However, that isn't the case usually. :|

Its a bit different in the fact that everyone is overly nice in these events.

IMO Tiesto is f'n terrible btw.... he fell off many many years ago. I don't get his continued popularity. Dude's really been riding off his name for a pretty long time. Also most times I've heard him live he was a major dissapointment especially compared to his earlier mixes and cd's. And that was all in early 2000 to mid during his hey day.

A lot of people go sober or just drink. I went to my last party just hopped up on redbull and still had a great time. Maybe even better than being drunk and not remembering shit.

I think a lot of his fame now is he was one of the first to do these big north American gigs in Vegas . I haven't seen him put out anything spectacular in a while but the in concert thing was a very well done show. Not sure I'd bother going to a crowded club to see him though

Tiesto blows.

I love his old stuff, but his new stuff is lameballs.

http://www.urb.com/2010/12/22/anti-raves-act-of-2011-introduced-in-california-assembly/

Did this Anti Raves act in Cali ever get any traction? I honestly hear of more people dying at concerts than at Raves. Why don't they just ban concerts while there at it. In fact maybe they should just ban people from leaving their homes and hurting themselves.

EDC getting closer 🙂 Can't wait to rage in Vegas.

We don't have raves in CA. We have electronica drug parties that end at 2am.

So yes, there was CA laws that went info effect that ended raving.
