Initial lineup looks.... insane. And if 300,000 is true, this far surpasses any other music festival like Coachella, etc.

EDC_WebFlyer632.jpg

Armin, Guetta, Avicii, Above & Beyond, Tiesto, Dash Berlin, Afrojack... uh thats a lot of top 10 names there.

I'm probably going. Looking to decide by this weekend and lock in a deal on a hotel and flight with a buddy of mine. Lineup is redonkulous.

OP are you going? Curious if you are if you got any inside tip on good hotel deals. Did some research and Hard Rock is pretty cheap but off the strip. I want to stay at Cosmopolitan but prices are jacked up.

I think the only ones I've heard of in that line up are Bassnectar and Mt. Eden.

Yeah. I'm missing out on Friday, but Sat and Sunday are the top lineups usually. I had a flight booked but I cancelled it because I got a wedding to attend to Friday. Hope the prices aren't through the roof yet. Hotel-wise, I'd prefer something decent. I've been staying at the Venetian for a while, and its a nice place to cram people if you want. I can't forsee doing much clubbing if EDC is keeping me up all night. Even if I pool party, it'll be to relax as I'll need to rehab during the day. Heh.

what is that, some techno festival?

i saw blue man group in chicago. entertaining. I recognize nothing else in that lineup.

If a single band, Phish, can draw ~160k for a weekend in the Florida swamps--ONE BAND, with the same art and carnival ride installations (not to mention the recent halloween romp with all of the above + one-time sierra nevada brew)--why the fuck would I go to see 80 bands draw only twice that number?

bah.

I'm going with about 50 people. Man I saw the lineup and that is the who's who of EDM.

They even have some great smaller artists like Dubfire.

Can't wait.

Nope. EDC is really over hyped and over packed now. I went in 08/09/10 when it was still in LA and even back then it was starting to get crazy. Plus summer time in Vegas is all about the pool parties ;D

That being said, Im booking tickets to Ultra Music Festival next March :D

I got my VIP tickets today. Going with a buddy of mine and meeting some locals we know out there. I'm sure its become commercial as shit but any chance I can get out to Vegas and especially to an EDM event like this I won't miss out on it as at my age, most of my friends have moved on past that phase in their life. :) I'm going there for the music. Kaskade is my favorite DJ in the lineup. Can't wait for sure.

Dubfire is amazing...and a local guy so I fully support him and Sharam. I used to go their old record shop Yoshitoshi.

p.s. anyone know if its worth it to get the shuttle pass? Trying to hit up 2 of the days and maybe sell my ticket for the 3rd day.

I'm staying off the main Strip for the first time at the Palms because of a hookup. It might be a good change to be away from the strip for this event. What do you think? I only remember going to Rain like 6 years ago at the Palms. don't remember much else about it or the area since I normally stay on the strip.

Didn't the person organizing EDC get arrested recently I think for bribing, etc when the event was in LA?

I'm off to go see Oakenfold now for some nostalgia. good to see some edm fans on here.

I've been going to edm events more now that I'm living in la. That scene is no where near as big in the bay area. I love the music but yeah I feel you on most people thinking they are too old etc. Like I'm 31 and one of my friends is 32. Went to a club to see tritonal and norin and rad. It was weird because well there were 16-18 year olds there

I'm in my 30's but I can still be a creeper at the clubs since I look 10 years younger hah... don't want to sound like an old fart but the scene is not what it used to be like it was back in the late 90's and early 2k. Went to Oakenfold tonite cuz my buddy dragged me...dont think majority of the people even knew who he was. Back in the day there would be Oakie Oakie chants all night long. With that said, his style is kinda tired. But I will give him bonus points for playing the Delerium mix of Sarah McLachlan's Silence as he was closing.

I hear the scene is still pretty big in the west coast. It's kind of creeping a comeback in the east. Last time I was out west was for Monster Massive in LA like 6 years ago. Good times... people in LA know how to party.

My ears ringing and I can't sleep from all the redbull. It's kinda funny going to a party sober... people dance fuckin funny as shit.

I just got back from Nadia Ali in Hollywood which was all right. I can't say I've been at it as long as you didn't start really getting into it until 04 or so. I remember going to see jes and motorcycle live back when no one cared. The crowds now are way more packed and definitely some of the promoters are ovetpacking the venues which sucks. Only thing I'm really happy about is I can afford to go to everything now without thinking about it as much.

I can also say I might be the first person influenced by an anandtech thread to buy edc tickets. After I Googled the lineup I convinced a friend that we had to go and bought VIP tickets. I feel poorere now. Thanks AT. I'll be in the VIP area in June hahaha

$275 for a 3 day pass? $532 for a VIP 3 day pass?

I'll pass... even though there are some great artists in there.

Those prices aren't that abnormal. I paid $100 to see Tiesto at Playhouse in Hollywood and $100 at XS in Las Vegas. That's general admission.

Side note, seeing Tiesto next weekend for the 21st bday at Encore Beachclub in Vegas. Got a lily pad table next to the DJ booth and seeing the EC Twins at Marquee at night with a tier 2 table!!
