Apparently, I look completely racially ambiguous.
Within a few minutes of meeting me, everyone asks me the same question: "What are you?"
I get this so often, I usually ask people to guess first. I have gotten every race in the book....and only rarely, do people come even close. In fact, people tend to think that I'm their race, more often than not.
Most often, I get some sort of middle eastern. I've gotten turkish, persian, palestinian, israeli, morrocan, hell, I've even gotten saudi. Every now and then I hear indian, sometimes pakistani, and the other day, someone thought I was sri lankan. I'm definitely NOT Sri Lankan, but the kid did look like my twin.
If it's not middle eastern, it's usually hispanic. Puerto rican, cuban, hell, even mexican (I'm way, way too tall). People come up to me, asking me for directions in spanish, and when I break it to them that I have no idea what theyre saying, they look completely confused. Then again, only half my hispanic friends can actually speak spanish.
White kids often assume I'm greek, or native american. I guess they're darkish? Actually, come to think of it, white kids tend to assume middle eastern before anything.
Asians assume I'm part asian - I've gotten chinese, korean, japanese, thai, indonesian...the works. I did grow up in Flushing, Queens....coincidence? Hmmm.....
A black kid thought I was half black...although thats the only time I've ever heard that one, which is actually somewhat surprising.
And the reality is far from uncommon...its just a particular mix, from what most people would consider the same race, that somehow managed to come out completely ambiguous.
The only people who ever actually get it half-right are the people who actually share the same nationality...and most of the time, only after they hear my last name.
I'm starting to have a bit of fun with it....sometimes I let people hang thinking the wrong thing for a while. I had this girl convinced I was 100% mexican for hours, before I finally told her.
Next person that asks, I'm going with aztec. No one knows wtf an aztec looks like, but I'm sure I can pass for it. If he/she is a real dumbass, I might even try atlantean.
My girlfriend jokes about how I should start a site, and take wagers to see if anyone could actually guess...I could totally clean up.
Anyone else in the same boat?

Take your best guess. And I am a mix, but one part is more prominent than the other.
